  5. .

I don't know Steve tbh. I'd really like to go to the Classic TT 1 day, as I've never been before in August. However I'll let you know about the Classic, would be good to catch again atleast.

I know you well enough to know that you do just fine with what you have (20+ years old nail or not). They are special and I often admire your 851 as you may remember from past discussions.

I haven't really been able to open her up properly yet as still running the young girl in (now at 285 miles only). However I'm enjoying the unbelievably low down grunt she has without any flatspots that I can feel anyway. Reminds me of the 1098R I still have. 1 of many old girls still in the stable.

  6. Well CS. I see you followed Henry Ford's ethos of 'choose any colour you like as long as its Black'. I just wanted to Glow in the Dark. :upyeah: :Woot:

  7. Had my first dark back in 2003 750 ss and it was my introduction in to the world of Ducati and never looked back, since then I have had 2 x 749 (dark) 848 pearl white (no choice it was that or red) 848 Evo (Dark) 899 matte white (again either that or red) the 848SF is in the pic, the 1199 picked up Jan 3rd and acquired the se corse Saturday just gone by :) took it to work today absolutely love it. The 1199 is bloody mental I am sure it just wants to spit me of the back :)

  8. CS if your a pipesqweek or a lightweight, you may need the rear spring changing and go softer. My pal Mr C had been advised to change his 1199 spring, because as a road bike its too firm apparently. However it maybe ok for TD usage.

  9. 11st mate and I don't mean bounce me off I mean spit me off, you don't have to crank the throttle hard it just takes off.
Looking to get the suspension setup, I have done on all my previous bikes and does make for a better ride.

Saw the superlight last year at the Italian day in a nearby local town looks awesome in the flesh.
I have even considered down sizing, can buy a cheaper place and have enough left over for one of those.

I have done 1400 miles nearly on the 1199 and not finding comfort a real problem at the mo, I have fitted a DP seat which helped a lot.

  10. Only been out twice and today was the 2nd time. I was advised to get the suspension checked and found it was all over the place. So a good call, (thanks Freak). Still a little soft but they'll adjust to suit as i require. It remarkably doesn't want to throw me outta the seat like the 1199 used too, but then at 15.7 stone I probably have the weight to push it down. The SL rides and tracks very well tbh, but haven't yet exceeded 7K on the rev's so enjoying the low down grunt very much. Goodness knows what its like above 7K, I think it'll take off.

  11. Mine has lifted at 9k revs in 3rd, took it to work last week and had a blast home. exited roundabout on to a dual carriage way thats very straight blipped the throttle couple of quick shifts and it was doing stupid speed.
Its the fact it just gets there so quick and easy. :)

  12. Yep I had the front lifting a few times on the 1199 when between 7-9 too. I have the DWC so its quite intrusive. Whilst I don't mind the front lifting from time to time, I do prefer 2 wheels on the tarmac whenever possible. I dare say the SL will often lift as I find my boundaries before I find the SL's.

  13. No doubt mate, well I hope it stays dry for you and you can get it out a bit more ride safe :)

  14. Put 100 miles on mine yesterday after hibernating since Sept-15 just after the running in service had been undertaken.

I'd forgotten just how epic it is.

Above 9k rpm it's obscene, the curious bit (like a previous poster mentioned) is its much more forgiving to ride than the 1199S it replaced.

All winter I've been thinking about an RSV4 to track etc in addition to the SL, after yesterday I don't think I'll bother.

  15. I thought so too...
Imagine my reaction when I rocked up to a local bike show feeling like Archie Pluff on my few days old Panigale R, only to find some bounder had parked a Superleggera up just before I got there. Gutted. :grinning:
