749 Mot Fail. Need Help And Advice Please :(

  2. yeah, i know that. the screwdriver didnt work.. the whole screwdriver bent...im gonna have to get dealer to change chose... robbing bastards, there wasnt even anything wrong with the bearings... now there is ive fucked one side up.

  6. that guide is what i used in the first place, but there is just simply not enough clearance because of that spacer. the spacer has a notch, but even then...it wont come out. and TTonup yes, im in inverness, you ?
     
  7. The sleeve floats between the bearings slightly. Push it to one side.

    If you are having trouble with wheel bearings, how did you mange setting the gears for the cams on the NC30?

    this is slightly more challenging as i cant ACTUALLY get that spacer to move to one side.. it floats in there yes, but no where NEAR enough for a screw driver to fit in to get a good tap....
     
  10. Go and buy a raw bolt and do it how they do in the video.
     
  11. go in to HMP with your wheel ask a fella on the desk called ian if they have a longish punch that you want to use to push a bearing out say fin recommended you. if i know ian he will push it for ya.:smile:eek:pen saturday mornings.
     
  12. Have you tried both sides, once you get one out you can get a bigger tool in for the stubborn one.
     
  13. so ive fixed everything on the list, i took it to the MOT again and it failed on front brakes again?

    apparently the calipers have seized and the front wheel isnt turning freely... but the thing is, i took apart the calipers took the seals out, inspected them, they were all in perfect condition, i also cleaned and buffed the pots, fair enough they had some corrosion, but now its silky smooth... i used some red rubber grease while installing the seals and the pots as well. and its STILL failed?!

    what else is there to even check!?

    i also have a BRAND new pair of discs... only thing ive re-used is the brake pads.... some are worn more than others.. would that make any difference?
     
  14. Sounds like the only thing left to change is the pads, can't do any harm... and I might try taking it to a different tester as well,in theory they should all test to the same standard,but we all know some are more obsessive than others....as long as the bike is safe to ride,worth a try.

  15. How many turns does it spin by hand?
     
  16. pump up the brake, if the wheel is still tight to turn, crack the bleed nipples on the calipers if the fluid comes out under pressure and the wheel frees up, you have a blockage
     
  17. When you re-installed the front wheel did you bounce the suspension before tightening the fork pinch bolts? Give that a try. I would also fit new pads as a matter of course with new disks.

  19. Yes, old pads with new discs has to be a bad idea.
