Exactly - and the official BBC investigation (which has apparently had evidence presented to it by Clarkson and various others) will apparently come to a decision later this week. The PM isn't involved. The fact that he makes a lot of money for the BBC could be a headache for them of course, but I can't see them being able to change the enquiry outcome because of that. What is very wrong, and JC is rightly very angry about it, is for some at the BBC to have suggested some comparison with the dreadful Saville case - after all, everything "wrong" that Clarkson has done in the past has been given ample publicity. And none of his "indiscretions" has been in the same league as what Saville got up to - for example, drinking a Gin & Tonic when driving across the Arctic!

Sometimes it's interesting to note what goes on behind the scenes. There's a bit of a struggle at the BBC between Danny Cohen (the Director of Television) who loathes Clarkson and tried to get him sacked over the last spat, and Tony Hall (the Director-General) who wants to keep him because he earns the BBC loads of ££££. They are even publicly contradicting each other in briefings (e.g. Is Clarkson "like Jimmy Savile" - or not?). I wonder who will win?
