... and comment on that closet racist Trevor Phillips' attempt to sow the seeds of disharmony on C4 last night. I just watched his documentary Things We Can't Say About Race, But Should (or something like that) and was absolutely appalled at the brass cheek of the man. Anyone agree?
Not sure if anyone will agree with you or not. I know I don't. The programme is the opening salvo in a debate that needs to take place. I don't know whether we, as a forum or as a nation, will be successful in discussing racial issues without being racist but the kind of dancing around the issues that goes on these days is unsustainable. It is incredibly easy, I suspect, for all this to go very wrong but does that mean that we should bury our heads in the sand?
My "opening salvo" was more than a little tongue in cheek and I'll properly break cover later Loz - but it was interesting to see Phillips fess up to the results of his own mistakes ... some of which were predicted by a number of people who found themselves vilified by the likes of ... you guessed it, Trevor Phillips. Maybe he will apologise for that later - but I wouldn't hold your breath. Selective memory abounds on issues such as this. As it does on many contentious subjects - Iraq, immigration, Islamic terrorism ... but it'll all come out in the wash! We just have to hope that Phillips and his ilk haven't destroyed our country in their egotistical belief that with their quasi-divine intervention millions of years of evolution and tribalism could easily be reversed within a couple of decades merely because it was desirable (which it obviously is, before the more animated members if the forum take out a contract on me).
To be honest, I had assumed somebody had hacked your account and posted the opposite of what you usually say. Either that or you'd had a psychotic break
I'm not IslamoPHOBIC - I have a perfectly RATIONAL fear of Asians wearing rucksacks on the London tube network.
One of the less animated members of the forum thought the programme was brilliant and thought provoking, excellent stuff.
Instead of falling / being led into the distraction debate of racisim moslim fobia / fear ,when are we going to discuss the " loss " of 500 m $ of american arms in somalia this year , or the similae amount " lost " in both iraq and afghanistan in the last year or so ,,, and what is happening in all these countries ,,,, and continue to deny who it is that is causing / funding / arming the rise of so callled terrorisim .
Religion and race are not the same thing....or have is missed out on a huge part of a conversation somewhere?
