Pissed off this morning to see my left rear indicator missing after a ride,IMO they're a really shit design, and too easily removable.anyone got any mods to help keep them in place a bit better? Looking for a replacement wasn't as easy as I thought either, nothing on ebay unless you want to order from China,i ended up ordering from a German site in the end, they say delivery within 3 days.....we'll see.
What put you off the China ones? The OE ones look really basic to me and can't take that much to make a copy part and the fitting is simple too. I'm looking for some clear rears to match up with the clear fronts which I've just fitted and was considering these pattern alternatives. I don't think there's any way of making them secure. The only thing I can think of is maybe some black tape around the twist fitting part to help prevent vibrating loose.
Nothing wrong with getting stuff from China, got some nice shorty levers last year as you know, the only issue is the wait for them to get here, and with the weather looking on the up and with my MOT overdue (ooops!) I wanted some fairly quickly,i had thought about the black pvc tape, seems a bit rough and ready tho...
One of them pointed upwards when mounted, overall quality was ridiculous. Poorly glued glasses, housings were shiny black instead of matte as the originals.
I bought integrated tail light which is LED, has tail and indicators integrated with a smoke lens. Very bright and does away with the dumbo indicators sticking out. Just plug and play. Not sure if it's MOT legal but he passes mine.
I've been looking at these rear light clusters with some interest and wondering if they are legal or not? It's interesting to know that your bike passed its mot with one of these on. Maybe it's the same thing as the front side light in the screen when people fit after market ones. "If it ain't there then it must've been like that when it left the showroom!" Got to be honest they definitley tidy up the rear end. As a matter of interest to the indicators flash any faster now as they are now led?
I Agree with Mongoose on the above comments...how easy are they to fit ,is it just a matter of plugging into the existing connectors?....electrics isn't my strongpoint! BTW.. the replacement indicators I ordered from ''Stein Dinse'' in Germany arrived within the stated time slot and appear to be OE Ducati items, at a reasonable price, I am impressed.
No, the flash at the same rate as have a built in relay. Literally unplug your existing one and plug the new one in. Looks so much cleaner at the rear end. My not ain't bothered but he does own 17 Ducatis from all years so might be biased!
Where did you get the unit from?....is it really just a case of plugging it into the existing connector, and are the fittings the same as the OE cluster?... any chance of posting a pic of it fitted.
I got it off a company from ebay. I'm not a lover of ebay but the light is exactly the same as OEM but without indicators and has the exact same connections. Has built in relay and the led is very bright. Will get a picture of it fitted to my bike and will post it. I'm sure it was a German company. Have to try and find out
Yes, agree the design is crap... I've put a dab of silicone sealant on mine, it will easily pull off if I need to change a bulb..
That's Exactly what I've done ,the clear silicone sealant gives enough hold to keep them in place but will allow removal for bulb changing...useful mod.
It's from bs motoparts, Germany. Go to ebay and search "Ducati 749 999 rear light" and you will see it.
Probably a stupid question but do you have the O ring between the indicator and tail light housing? Mine are very stiff to open and most definitely will not open on their own during riding.
Yes, o ring is present, but..... There is a lug that is easily damaged and you'd have to buy the light unit all over again.. Personally I wouldn't buy the LED units or small indicators, I reckon we need to be seen as much as possible. I like the indicator unit anyway....
The LED indicator on the LED tail light is much brighter than OEM and covers a larger diameter, never got a proper answer from VOSA whether they are legal or not, seems to be at the discretion of MOT unit
