Hi folks, I am thinking on getting my bike setup on the dyno with a power commander 5. The bike has the full system Termi's, DP Ecu, DP filter, 14T front sprocket. What do you's think of getting the bike setup with PC5? Or any of you's tried anything else? Someone has also recommended a Bazzaz unit with autotune!!!! What do you guys think? Has anyone out their got any fitted to there bikes? Any advice welcome, thanks
I have a non Evo with the same mods as yours and with a PC V I gained around 10rwhp so worthwhile, I'd e tempted to take it somewhere that will remap the ecu though. From what I've heard/read there is much more to gain.
Not sure what part of the country you are in but if close try Louigi Moto near Bristol/Bath (01761 453366). Save the money on the PC and spend it on a custom set up and remap of the ECU.
+1 on that. Don't waste the money on a PC5, when a custom map will give you better results. CJS Ducati, located with Lougi Moto is who you're after. If you do a search for it I'm sure its been discussed to death on here. I know it was on the 'old' ducati forum Matt
Looking to get mine (848evo) custom mapped at the moment, as I now had a spare 1098s ecu and even after my 8k service still feels alittle flat at times due to fueling. moto rapido or cjs hmmmm?
you need to go somewhere that has a dyno to set it up correctly to your bike.........other wise i might as well write the fuel map from here.....
I have YPE or Bob Scott both in scotland, not too far away from myself. Think they charge around £200 for the ECU re-flash. A lot cheaper than PC V.
Is that a Simple flash to one pf the pff the shelf maps or full custom map? CJS charge £500 for full custom...and have nothing but praise. So PC + set up costs about the same
YPE told me that was full custom, but he could not do too much tuning with the DP ECU..... Am I just been led up the garden path then!!!! Our problem up here is we don't have anywhere really, unless anyone knows of anywhere near for myself!! I might not mind putting the Ducati on a trailer and taking to somewhere with a good reputation. Thanks
I'm no expert, but from what I've read and been told your being told a few un- truths. With the correct software and experience the DP ECU is fully programmable, giving better results than a PC5. As Nelson said it has more TPS points and yo can program it below 4k rpm, which if memory serves you can't do with a PC5. Matt
You want to check that the ECU is compatible. Not sure if it is as the software is completely different and needs completely reloading, not just 'tinkering' with. Matt
I found this too. I tried for ages to find somewhere in Scotland that would be able to dyno and set up my GSXR including fitting a PC3 etc. I called Bob Grant's shop about it a year or two ago as they were based at Knockhill and gave me a decent price but I couldn't quite stretch to it at the time so I left it for a while. I called them back in March this year to go ahead with it and it turns out they've now moved to Silverstone (or Donington, can't quite remember which). That left me only two choices up here - YPE or Bob Scott. I spoke to YPE a wee while back and thought the guy seemed fine enough but was a bit dear, so I emailed Bob Scott too and they never replied. In fariness I didn't chase it up either though. I was swithering about whether to do it or not though or just to go and look for another bike instead. Ended up deciding not to spend any more at all on the GSXR and somehow ordered an 848... There is just nowhere up here other than these two from what I can find out. Both have a reasonable reputation though from what I've found out but I don't know either from Adam.
The Evo has the IAW5AM ecu the same as all the other 848/1098/1198 variations, and is completely compatible, they all just have different software and maps flashed to them regardless of if they are DP or Standard ones, it makes no difference really, they all can be re-flashed.
Howdo! I've had my ecu remapped by Chris at CJS, highly recommended! My mate also had his 848 done, with cheap shit end cans I think it made 134Bhp. Will see if I can get the dyno print out. Cheers Pablo
