That is gorgeous!!!!! Seriously. One of my old neighbours had one, and was always tinkering with it - when I was about 7yo I used to spend hours watching him play around with it. I guess it was him and my uncle that "got me into" bikes. God bless you Mr Severs!!
I had an RGS too, glad it wasnt just me who used to get low 30s mpg.. I always found it best on the motorway, riding position was spot on . Too big and heavy really to be thrown about the twistys. Prices seem to have gone through the roof recently, so you should get a good price for yours if you sell.
The DB2 is also a possibility. Better motor but slightly less gorgeous styling. Look at the size of it - it's tiny! (even if this one has had a mod to 17" wheels). Best looking bike ever. Also count me in for an RC30. And also perhaps an MHR Evoluzione. Does anyone on this forum own one of these? Never seen it mentioned. What is it like? Looks the biz.
Peter, if your OP was "Bikes you wish you own" you would probably get some slightly different ones, for me it would still be the black and gold 900SS. A mint one sold last year at £25k! Given a choice between that and the current Desmosedici it would still be the 900SS, it is just so much easier on the eye and probably easier to live with.
How does this leave todays younger bikers, those brought up with all the electronic gizmos ,fuel injetion and ECU' you cant work on yourself. They may know of these earlier bikes, but their bikes they wished they'd owned will be 749r's BMW 1000rr's,stuff they can only bolt gear onto. I feel they are the loser's here. I heard of a bloke with a BMW 1000rr who wanted to fit an Acro race system ,he removed his original and fitted the Acro only to be prevented riding until he took it to his dealer as the ECU wouldn't allow it to be non factory/dealer installed. I could be wrong but I thought I'd heard it had even flashed up a warning to the dealer. Xs 650 I used to have one and wouldnt mind it back if I could do this to it.
Loved these when they came out, nearly bought an unregistered moody one built from parts in '98 but the engine/frame numbers didn't look right.
I rode one once as a favour to a garage who wanted it run in. Problem was, it didn't work much under 7'000 rpm and I wasn't meant to be taking it over 7'000. A frustrating experience. Just when it was about to take off, I had to change up.
i was working at a ladys house one time, her husband had passed away about two years before, anyhows when i walked into her garage there were several old bikes about inc a brough superior ss80.......now i would have loved that bike. i went and found some articals inc prices for her so she wouldnt get ripped off by someone. i would love a britten.just to sit and rook at and maybe lick.
