Ebay Not Always Great! :-/

Discussion in 'Ducati General Discussion' started by gremlyng, Mar 26, 2015.

  1. I recently bought what was listed as a brand new and un-used 'The Carbon King' exhaust cover to suit my 1098 off a UK based eBay seller with 100% feedback!

First of all I had issues with the seller because they had the wrong email account in association with their paypal account! And to add salt to injury the cover arrived earlier today and it's actually a used cover made by 'CDT' Slovenia! Generally it's in ok condition but the heat tape is worn and there are a few scratches in the surface.

To say I'm less than impressed is a major understatement!

Proper ball ache! I shall be steering away from eBay from now on I think!

  2. There are thousands or millions of sellers on eBay. You have had a disappointing experience with one seller. So your reaction is to steer away from eBay altogether. Are you suggesting that is a sensible course of action?

  3. was it a bargain ;)

  4. Contacted the seller about this?

Ebay is a den of shit, be careful where you tread.

  5. Escalate it to eBay/PayPal.

They always side with the buyer and you will get your money back.

I've been using it for at least 10 years and bought hundreds, possibly thousands of items. I've only ever had one bad experience and I received a full refund via PayPal.

  6. I give the seller chance to remediate prior to opening a dispute case. Give them a chance to address the issue. I will then use that as indication of goodwill for the dispute as needed.

  7. Thing is he listed the item as being brand new and un-used and that it was from 'the Carbon King' what he has sent is a used part from another manufacturer!

I hear what some might say about 1 bad experience so me aiming to avoid eBay is not sensible, but this is not he first time it's happened to me, family members and friends. You'd think 100% feedback and being UK based would be a dead cert on being what it says on the tin! Evidently not!

I've contacted eBay & Paypal and the buyer and requested a return and full refund! It wasn't mega money but at £34 although I could have gone direct to 'The Carbon King' and got a garantee'd 100% new item for £41 That'll teach me eh!

  8. I had the sellers mobile from when he had issues with his paypal email account - So I politely text him and he didn't respond so I figured I had been messed around far too much and escalated it with Paypal and eBay.

  9. Not especially, £7 cheaper than the manufacturers selling price.

  10. not a bargain then

  11. Maybe the comment I'll be steering away from eBay permanently is a bit harsh, but experiences like this make one take stock and not want to get caught again. I have had my fingers burnt previously as have other family members, friends and work colleagues.

Reading my original post I think maybe I used the forum to have a rant, to vent my frustration. having the glaringly obvious pointed out is a typical reaction on a forum, I should have known better than to post at all :)

  12. We like the glaringly obvious, here on the Forum! :D

  13. Just dump bad feedback on him, never not failed for me, but still go thru ebay/paypal for refund.

  14. You don't have to be on Ebay to have a nasty experience, the scumbags are under every stone you care to look under!:Rage:

  15. Trouble is if I leave bad feedback for the seller they will undoubtably leave bad feedback for me in retalition. All very wrong!

He has text me this evening saying I should chill out! and that he doesn't have to accept the return but that he would. No remorse or sign of apologie! Selling me this item with a decitful listing showing photo's of a new cover etc... I sincerely hope that eBay & Paypal come down on this twunt! For every good person there's always 10 arseholes lurking!

I now have to wait until he responds via eBay and wait for a refund! It's a good job he doesn't live within reasonable travelling distance as I'd have quite likley taken a drive to pay them a visit and shoved the cover up their arse sideways!

  16. Here is a screen shot of his listing, that combined with 100% feedback gave me the confidence that he was a good seller! How wrong I was!
