  1. It's my keyring. It's everywhere in the Falklands - keyrings, on cars, all over the place...

  2. which sort of makes you suspect that it was deliberate then, and not a coincidence...

  3. I saw Big Ted today!

Well, barely. I was on the tenth floor of my customer's Portsmouth site, looking at the carrier through a big set of binoculars. The jets (F18's?) were all neatly lined up on the deck, to impress the natives.

When the ship leaves, I should be able to see the Isle of Wight again!

  4. Gutted I couldn't get the day off yesterday. More impressive then anticipated by all accounts, best part was getting fed chocolate in the kitchen and firing nuclear missiles according to my son!

  5. That's the other thing I remember about the American ship I worked on - In their dining hall they had this enormous machine which allegedly produced three different types of coffee. All that actually came out of it was hot, brown sugary milk - VERY sugary ! Truly horrendous...

  6. Or that Stanley Printers never miss a good opportunity...
    :)

  7. As a slight aside, you watching " an Island parish" on beeb 2currently.

  8. Yes mate - spotted a few people, and a lot of places, that I recognise...

  9. They should have named the ship "USS Roosevelt". Then Republicans could think it referred to Theodore R, while Democrats could believe it meant Franklin Delano R. That would keep both lots happy, wouldn't it?
