I can't decide. Quality Both companies seem to make high quality exhausts Sound I'm not sure if there is any difference in sounds as it's hard to tell with You Tube Pics Style I'm split on this. I like that the Zards keep the under the seat look so it's nice and tidy but I also really like the twin SC Project pipe Price SC project for a full system are about £900 (€1,255) Zard full system £950 (€1,330) - If I can some how convince them to send them to me from Italy. they are more expensive buying them from UK distributors. Any views from people with either of these systems? I realise on top of this I'll need a new air filter ~£50 and an ECU remap £450 So not small change ~£1,500 all in but I think these are the best quality on the market. I'm not a fan of the 2:1 single exhausts out the side.. just my preference. Or the other option is I just get the Zard slip on for about £650 and then I don't have the ecu remap expense etc.. so I save a lot, but I'm guessing I wont get all the sound and performance benefits.. as well as the fuel saving that allows my man maths to make this all worth it. Thoughts opinions welcome.
I had the Zard full setup a few years back on my 1st 1098... So wish I still had that setup.. Wow what a sound & also not that common so gives you that little exclusive factor... I'm now running a set of Leo Vince's which I love also.. If it was running a stock exhaust setup, I'd be looking at Zard to be honest.. Hope that helps a bit
Got the Zard on my 1100 sp and it sounds brilliant also it is a quality finish A believe the sp project is noisier
Thanks for the replies... I'm falling on the side of the Zards right now.. but seem to change my mind frequently. I like the idea of starting with just the slip ons and then later going the full system. Will continue my research.
I know this wasn't what you was asking but what about 2:2 arrow full system? They do long and short versions and plenty of end can finishes to choose from. Comes in about the same as what you looking at. The Termi 2:1 sounds brilliant And comes with the map stick but for me it isn't as pretty or special as the underseat twins. Was desperate to do this but a full system I could about stomach but the remap makes it far too much.
Yeah there is a lot of choice out there and I get the sense the Termis are a little over priced but they are nice. I'm with you in that I'm not really a fan of the 2:1 Termi on the single side. I'm defiantly swaying to the Zards but I've read some reviews that they don't sound as good. So I really want to hear some in the flesh because it's so hard to tell on the YouTube videos. I some to Zard today and the said they would sell me a system directly so I can take advantage of the weak EUR at the moment. But I'm still very tempted by the SC Project 2:2 for something a little different. I think if I heard them side by side I'd be able to make up my mind quickly. Then to through a spanner in the works a DIY job on the stock pipes seems to turn our supurb. Motoman's Ducati Hypermotard Stock Exhaust Mod Or what isaachant did is really impressive. Chopped exhaust | Ducati Forum So this decision is getting more difficult. Research continues.
I have a Zard on my 749R and it sounds like pure sex! Imho, they are vastly superior to any exhaust out there. But I know it often boils down to the look and sound, so ask yourself, what is the best looking and the best sounding exhaust? Head down to a local dealership and see if they have some different sounding exhausts on their bikes and have a listen.
Thanks Spanky... do you think that I can compare a Zard on say a 749R like yours to know what it would sound like on Hypermotard 796? I think you are right I need to get down to a Ducati dealership to for some sound test...
Just purchased the Zard online from Italy. I think it will take a couple of week to get to me then I need to book in a day up at BSD, which is just a little closer than CJS, for the ECU tune. I'll post a sound clip video when I get it...
Yeah good point... So the only other relevant mods 1. Air Filter 2. Cut a hole in the air box Anything else I should do 'whilst I'm in there'?
Is the zard coming with a decat? I'd recommend one if not. Also make sure you smooth the edges a little bit if you're going to cut your own hole in airbox lid.
Yeah I'm getting the headers that remove the cat. I spoke to Chris from CJS today and he said don't chop into the airbox because it could cause the air to generate strange 'currents' and actually reduce the air intake. So I'm just going to get an air filter and not mess with the air box I think. Interestingly he also said SC Project was a pile of sh1t and Zard were good quality. Mark at BSD also said Zard was top quality but didn't know much about SC Project.
Yep I've seen good reviews of SC Projects too and also seen some bad reviews of Termis so who knows. I've not had direct experience with either of them, but will be able to post a review of the Zard soon.
Bit surprised about the remarks 'steer clear' poor quality of SC stuff. Have a CRT on my 821 and its excellent quality, also have air filter and air fuel modifier, no issues at all Personally I wont use anything else now, looking at Sc for my gixxer 600 race bike Bought direct from Italy, great to deal with, good value and service Cant fault them at all, just be warned the non road version is so loud I sometimes think I should have stuck with a road legal version.
Hey thespionkop, I've read a lot of good reviews on SC Project too.. so I guess with all opinions, your own direct experience is what counts. Glad to hear you've not had any problems.!
