I seem to remember reading that Ducati cam belts are just off the shelf items, you just need to match them up. I think it was mentioned on the www they are the same as Renault Clio's. If you Google (other search engines are also available!) Ducati cam belts Renault then various threads from other sites come up.
Exact fit belts from cycleworks cheaper and better and proven. Even Brad black now imports them and highly rates them over Ducati oem belts which still snap
I know a few who use clio belts on 851 888 916's etc never a problem if you change them every 2 years!
Sorry Mike but these are specials for the multistrada, Gates make them for Ducati under liscence no others fit, Try MotoRapido Parts dept (01962 877996) just done mine for £102 There are some on ebay The ones from america end up costing nearly the same
hello a set from the netherlands £103+£13.00 p/p to u.k.on e bay they look to be ducat parts ie ducati packing ?? am thinking of buying a 2005s model belts are 3yrsold mike shannon
price of the belts wherever you buy them is cheap compared with the cost of not buying them and the cost of repairing the subsequent damage
hi yes 100% on that i have a st2 for the past 10yrs and only use belts from ducati and i change them every 2yrs my ducati dealer is 50mls one way from me so i do all my own service on my ducat mike shannon found this on www.ducati.ms web
Thanks for the update Chris, "I won't go on about mine versus Ducati because that's irrelevant; both brands are overkill for how we use them." does that mean you are willing to guarantee they will go further than 12,000miles or longer than 2yrs ? just done a quick quote from your place on line and yes they are $133 (£82 per pair) posted and who knows what the customs people will do, our Value Added Tax runs at 20% some times new stuff gets through without being taxed. So it could be £98....or £82 I have an email from a Gates employee giving me the information I passed on. Cheers AndyP
Just to give you an example of customs charges......bought a 2003 Showa rear shock for my bike from America $80.00 + $48 postage and now I get to pay $16 import vat + $12.78 Clearance fee.....Total $156.78 = £98
Chris, are we ever likely to see a UK distributor for Exactfit belts? That would certainly help keep the costs down for us.
I'm not a mechanic or dealer Candice, just a bike enthusiast. But if you really need to get your gear to the UK market I'd be more than happy to help.
Me also.....drop me an email Candice with a few details on your business and the parts you're looking for a 'reseller'/dealer for as I have a few contacts that would be likely candidates.
