1198 Evotech Tail Tidy With Akro's

  1. Has anyone got this combination on their bike? I have spent all day fitting mine, and the end result is as below.

The cans touch the indicator stalks. Are they going to melt? This is as good as i got it today, you can see i have tried to bring the hanger down using three washers aswell.

  3. Sorry mate, they have come through ok now, I think its a no brainer on the will they melt question.:Wideyed:

  4. My Termi's don't give off a lot off heat and I expect your Akro's will be the same so I doubt they will melt the indicator stalks.
The Akro's must have a larger overall diameter than the termi end cans.

  5. Thanks for the replies gents.

Really don't have the enthusiasm to take it all apart again, i guess i'll leave it running and see how hot the underside of the can gets.

I think it's more the shape Cupid.

  6. My 1098 gets very hot to the point of discolouration of the stainless ends, I would imagine an 1198 to be even hotter.:D

  7. They shouldn't get hot enough to melt the indicators mate, I have done a 60 mile stint on the Evo, you can put your hands on the cans as soon as you get off the bike and it is only luke warm to the touch.

  8. Can't say what the temp. is but I shall test on Sunday and report back!!:D:D:upyeah:

  9. While we are here, what is your battery voltage Andy on your bike when you start it?

    Thanks

  10. This may sound odd, but checking the voltage before pressing the button always reads around 11v, but starts ok no problems and then reads 14.5 when running.

  11. If you peel the skin of your hands don't blame me :) I have no idea what the Akro's are like :)

  13. @Pavey
Email your pictures to who supplied you the tail tidy, or Evotech, they may well provide you with a solution or make you a plate so that it looks a bit tidier, Measure the gap you have packed out with washers then add however many millimeters you need so that the indicators aren't touching the cans give them the measurement.
It's a shame I don't still work in an engineering tool shop as I could have made one for you then sprayed it up with matte black paint.
I fecking miss not working in a tool shop, had the use of lathes, milling machines, could easily adapt things that didn't quite fit, make my own spacers, shims. Oh well such is life :(

  14. Could you not increase the angle of the stem by pushing it downwards then increase the angle on the fold by the reg plate? You may gain a few millimetres there??? Your reg plate would be a bit further back but I don't think that'd matter.

  15. Went out today for an hour, came back and checked it, seems i was worried over nothing. As Cupid suspected, the bottom of the exhausts hardly gets hot at all :)

  16. Excellent news, I think all the new carbon silencers made in the last 5 years or so don't get hot well not to the point of melting things, however the down pipes and headers are another thing try to avoid touching those ;)
