I have been working all day and now I am home with a cold beer and dreaming of the sunny weekend ride. Sorry about the boring post but that is just how it is.:Shamefullyembarrased:
had a belter, taking two days off getting out on my bike for at least one.no bevy this weekend v.nice.
There is a leg of lamb in the oven, prepared in a Gascon stylee (mucho garlic, rosemary and anchovies). Just dragged a bottle of Château Chasse-Spleen '98 out of the cave (still a few old bottles left. A very few.) This should be good. My hot-cross buns were an aesthetic disaster, but they taste very good - and that's the main thing. It's not really biking weather here but it was OK weeding weather, so I did that.
And for my mother I've just done slow cooked lamb shanks with lentils roasted vegetables and parmentier epotatoes. Accompanied by a glass of Butcombe Ale. Not bad. Dessert we will either make a start on an 850g jar of black cherries in Kirsch or a Heston rhubarb and strawberry crumble with coconut and rosemary plus vanilla custard. Yep , rosemary - it works!
Suffered for 70% alcohol, suffered in the gym. Put the bike back together ready for a bit of dry roads and sunshine.
whilst celebrating my b'day largely on me own last night i get a call from my ex telling me two of my buddies have just been attacked by a machete wielding Romanian in my local (only defensive hand wounds but quite nasty) so that soured a very average night.. this morn we had to clear the site, job and knock and as i had spent 8 hrs yesterday clearing crap indoors (to take the pinch off today) i said to my 2 workmates (before they turned in at 7.30 last night) that as i had done most of the stuff inside they could finish it while i had a nice morning clearing the garden away from them and the dust... It pissed down and i got soaked through for 3 hrs. we drove back to london 2.5 hrs from Brighton and i got a half hr break before my mate the mechanic turned up and i have been helping him to get the gearbox out of my van on the drive way...it pissed down and i got soaked through for 3 hrs.... the joys of life eh? This is why i drink... hello melbec and good bye cruel world ead:

We have just made cornbread, definitely not going to post a picture of that! Tasted ok even though I think it's depth may be less than when it went into the oven!!
It was good. It was really very good (and I can say that because I had nothing to do with it, apart from carving it). In fact, it was the best lamb I have had in years. Bottle is very nice, but not spectacular (though my bar for spectacular is quite high). I am now el stuffo. Time for a film.
A thief broke into my house last night and started searching for money - so I woke up and started looking with him
