  5. Chickenhawk was interesting.
In the 80s, I once watched The Killing Fields and realised I new nothing about the Vietnam War, so to fix that I bought and read:
Vietnam: a History: Amazon.co.uk: Stanley Karnow: 9780140265477: Books
    Vietnam: a Reporter's War: Amazon.co.uk: Hugh Lunn: 9780812830880: Books
Chickenhawk: Amazon.co.uk: Robert Mason: 9780552124195: Books

Forgotten most of it now, of course.

  6. Good morning. Friends got their breakfast and have left, I thought entertaining was done, until wifey said her parents are arriving soon.

  7. Wish I was as attracted to reading as you are - you must have a thousand books by now whereas all I have is a a thousand greasy/rusty bolts.

  9. I don't read as much as I should. When I was a kid my mum tried to encourage me by paying me 50p for each book. I duly read three books in quick succession and then thought to myself: "Wow - £1:50 - that's more money than I'm ever likely to need!" So I stopped reading...

I think she priced that wrong :)

  11. Always loved reading - it's just fantastic portable entertainment. You can do it pretty much anywhere and it needs no equipment or batteries or things to go wrong.
When you are reading the right book, it's like tuning in to your favourite film for hour after hour.

  13. I haven't counted them, but yes, there must be a thousand in this house.
What I do know is that I have run out of shelving for them. I plan on making more but I don't know where to put it.

  16. I have so far had a lovely time in Chichester - dropped off the 999 at the dealer, picked up my Longines watch which needed servicing, had numerous teas/coffees, a piece of cake, a pasty, and much mooching of shops.

Then I heard from the dealer - the side-stand bracket on the 999 is shot and needs replacing, at a cost of £35m (that figure is likely to rise because it is always a larger figure when I come to pay than when they first quote it).

All in all, an expensive trip to Chichester - it's no wonder I hate the fucking place.

Next up, a blat on the 750 perhaps - although I should wait until I can pick up the replacement oil sensor switch that I was not at home to receive earlier today because I was spending my savings in fucking Chichester, so maybe I will have to put up with the small oil leak that the old oil sensor is causing. Fucking Chichester!

    How is everyone?

  17. As my memory gets worse, I find I can read the same books again. Saves having to buy so many new ones.
