Insurance Quote From Bennets

Discussion in 'Ducati General Discussion' started by johnv, Apr 4, 2015.

  1. 2012 Multistrada 1200S Touring
    Garaged
    Good post code
5 years NCB (as long as I have had a full licence)
    Clean licence
    61 years old

I have always just renewed because it is easiest. The stated value is £14,999 which is obviously wrong but I though that over £15k is the kicker.

Renewal quote dropped through the letterbox this morning and is £405

Is this reasonable ??? Do I need to start ringing round on Tuesday morning ??

  2. You always need to ring round, just to sense check it. And I would bet that you'll get a better deal elsewhere but when you go back to Bennets they will match it.

I did it the other day searching around for a multi bike policy. Carol Nash, who I have been with for about 18 years, wanted £630. I made one call to a competitor and miraculously they managed to shaved £233 off their price to be competitive.

    It's worth making 3 or 4 calls. :)

  3. Its at least £100 more than mine and mine is higher value, I'm mid forties

    So yes...meerkat time

  7. MCE are in the loop for me, would highly recommend, excellent service and price. Bennets, meh!!:Vomit:

  8. Try Ducati insurance. Last year paid £99 fully comp. 46 full no claims and good postcode. Excess £400 though. Would have been £225 with £250 excess. Was a no brained if you do the maths. That's on a 2013 multi

  9. I went with bennetts last year as they were the only one who would give me 5 years ncb because the certificate I had was in Spanish and none of the others would accept it as proof. This year it dropped 25% to £140. 3rd party F&T, European cover for 3 months... That'll do.

  10. Carole Nash rate a 2003 999 as classic, so £160.00 fully comp

I did it through Martin's Money Tips - always worth a look for anything involving spending money... ;)

  12. Op sounds steep, I've got no ncb, 1 year full license new hyper sp £347 full comp garaged ground anchor etc, that's with bikesure

  13. Occupation makes a big difference, as people doing some jobs are deemed to be higher risk than others,

There is often a way of describing the same job that would put you in a lower risk category.

Martin's Money Tips has a list of these.

  14. Very good point. Thanks.

I have had a change of job status recently and that will almost certainly make a difference.

  17. Ah but think of the returns if elected ;)

  18. I agree with Toro, ring around and tell them the best quote you have received and they shoul
I agree with Toro shop around and you would be surprised in the variation. I left Carol Nash after 22 yrs as they wanted £700 for one of my bikes and £450 for the rest. Went to Peter James, £ 550 for the lot. I didn't want to leave but they didn't try hard enough to keep my business.

    Peter James, Birmingham. Try them

  19. You can only ride one at a time...

I guess the lot could get stolen though.
