Hi everyone, just dropped the engine out and took one of the heads off , its got High Comp pistons , modded stus and some porting done , so someone in the day spent some serious money on this bike. Now heres the question do I treat it to a set of Keihin FCR's ? I think it would be rude not too ! What can I expect from fitting these . Thanks Si View attachment 5614
Pic of head , this engine has a recorde mileage of 7.5K but no history however all this appears to confirm it hasnt done many miles , at least since it had this work done. View attachment 5615
I think it would be rude not too ! You've answered your own question Si  Go for a set of 41's as your engines seems to have a fair few mods, they transform the bike fella you won't regret it...
Yes, unless you get really lucky and pick up a second hand pair. They do come up from time to time but they'll still set you back about £400
Well gonna bite the bullet and order a set of FCR41's , this bikes had some cash splashed on it the past, I think that a few more tasteful and usefull mods are in order . To keep the Old girl happy. Dont worry it wont involve blingy anodised s*it.
Dont know how far you are going with the motor rebuild but I would strongly suggest you pull one of the barrels off and check the crank plug whilst you are there? 900SS trials & tribulations... - Ducati.ms - The Ultimate Ducati Forum
Yep was going to do that as I've got to pull the barrels of too A / sort out the oil leak B/ check the crank C/ check the Arias pistons as Mr Baines thought it was a good idea as they were prone to cracking. Thanks
So Ive been reading about the crank plug issue and have a 92 907 I'm a bit nervous about. Is it possible to rectify any problem(tighten or replace the plug) with just a cylinder off? Or is it a crankcase split if there's a problem?
Crankcase split. Heres mine halfway out between the cases (light brown, bottom of the pic) and the crank (darker colour) No access to it as it sits here, in the main bearing? (Quite literally in the main bearing lol) Case split is simple enough tho? Paint your engine whilst its out! Winter project... Mine had shown NO signs of any alloy flakes on the strainer in the two oil changes that I had owned the bike, hence I was a bit shocked to see it on such a state??! No flakes does not mean all is well with the plug.
A word on the FCR's. Everyone and his dog says Chris from CA Cycleworks, but I and a few others around got ours from Mike at a place called powerbarn. Now when i got mine they were the cheapest going by some considerable margin and he also helped with import duty as he accidentally miswrote the value on the package  The choice is yours, but hopefully the info will prove helpful
Hi thanks for this but looking at Powerbarn his FCR41's are $950 and Cycleworks are $929 looks like prices have shifted ?
Call Mike - What is on the web and what you pay might not be the same. You get him just after 5pm his time (11pm here) or try from around 4pm our time and if he doesn't pick up, leave a message. He WILL call you back.
I was looking at C/cycleworks's FCR's last week? The only thing that did bother me was the import charges, nowt worse than getting a big c/card bill then getting shagged AGAIN for import duty??! Was impressed that C/cycleworks took the time to rejet etc according to your powertrain setup, could be persuaded if Powerbarn offer the same service but offer cheaper import tax? Will investigate...
 I met a yellow SS carby rider out at Avebury a few weeks back, we were talking.... he was like "Has it given you any trouble as yet?" I said "Do you know what this is?" (Offers up "keyring") "Ah."
Nope, not being silly. Silly new website! I googled 'power barn milwaukee' and got; The Power-Barn.com. PO Box 170928.
