Hello all - New to here but not to Ducati Had my Multi for 3 years and managed a decent 18000 miles on it. Love it and it goes perfect. But now its that age and I'm swithering whether I should swap it in for a new one. Not had any real issue with mine and not sure how long these things stay reliable. Id like to think 50000 miles should be no issue but you don't see many high mileage ones which can only mean nobody uses them too much (or they wont get that far) And then the reliability and teething issues of the new ones in an unknown. Decisions decisions! What's your thoughts??
hello and welcome to the forum. have no clue as to how many miles the multi is good for... but if the older ducati sbks are anything to go by, good for well over 50,000 miles. suppose it's like any over bike, the better you look after it, in theory, the longer it'll last. ian.
I guess it depends upon how much you might get offered for it and how deep your pockets are. I know exactly what you mean though, my Multistrada has been brilliant but my test ride on a new one is already booked. It will have to blow my socks off and the price to change would have to be right for me to consider it. Don't tell anyone but I have a secret hankering after a R1200RT; I have never owned one and I haven't ridden one in about 4 years.
Hello and welcome into the mad house jaggy Dave Get a scrambler or just make sure the next one is red they are the fastest I see you have already met the locals
JohnV That's exactly how I feel. Just waiting for the dealer to get a demo model and it really needs to be so much better than my current one. Also the cash required to swap has to be good value or I will just stick with my current one for another year. I suppose we need to wait and see how the new one goes down once they are out and about. I don't want a scrambler as I already have a bike that looks very similar (64 Bonneville) And who's Dave?
Welcome. Mileage should not be an issue unless you are unlucky. Don`t see many multis yet at 50000+ but you will with time. Plenty of early monsters and ST`s though, which should give you an idea of life expectancy. It comes down more to whether you want the new model with the gizmos etc. Why not wait a year and see how they fare. Your present multi would not have depreciated much more over that time.
Buzz. I hope your right. Will wait and see once they are around and see what the offers are like to trade up. I still like my bike and the only gizmo id really like is the cruise control.
