1199 S Suspension Settings For The Road

Discussion in 'Panigale' started by johnboy63, Apr 10, 2015.

  1. Hi, The std settings on my 1199 'S' for "Sport mode" were:
    FC 18
    FR 12
    RC 18
    RR 12

I found this hard going on bumpy B roads, and have changed the settings in "Sport mode" to:
    FC 23
    FR 17
    RC 23
    RR 17

I found the front settings on another Ducati site and decided to put them on the rear too, after reading this -http://2013 Ducati 1199 Panigale S Project Bike - Motorcycle USA

Seems much better at absorbing the bumps and is more comfortable to ride.

Anybody else had a fiddle with the settings?

    • Thanks Thanks x 2
  2. Yep, it's a bit of a Pandora's box. I had a fiddle end of last year but couldn't really make anything of it. When my bike was in for a service the settings were put back to default and I cant remember what they were. I will have another play when I get out on it properly this year. Out of interest how heavy are you?

  3. 90kgs if the scales aren't lying!

  4. I'm also experimenting. I'm actually trying virtually the "Wet" suspension setting but in "Sport" mode. I figure they must give a balanced set up but just more compliant for our typical roads.

I'm 83kg (in me boxers) and I'm really happy with the compliance. Definitely faster on a UK road since the suspension is actually working.

    Compression F&R changed from 18 to 26 (Wet = 28)
    Rebound F&R changed from 12 to 14 (Wet = 14)

So a little softer compression (higher number) than johnboy at 26 v 23 but a bit more rebound at 14 v 17.

I may try backing off the rebound a bit more (say 15/16) but a bit nervous to go beyond the "Wet" value.

  5. My weight = 70kg / 11st
    Static Sag Front 28mm - Rear 17mm
    Rider Sag Front 39mm - Rear 32mm
    FC18
    FR12
    RC21
    RR18
    Suspension Linkage P

This was after I had it set up by my dealer.

  6. ive posted this before. but;
i basically use p setting, so theres less chance of bottoming out. on flat setting, big yumps can compress the spring too much. 2 up could be dangerous.
even at 13 stone, i needed to remove 1 full turn of preload off the rear shock to get decent sag.
I have use my 'race' setting, with 'road' display but with compression and rebound based only slightly more damped than wet settings, power is set at 195hi, and my sport setting is wet damping settings (but two notches up on damping and rebound on rear shock), but with 195lo, these give me the best settings for average, and good surfaced roads. Standard sport and race settings are far too harsh for road riding. but im still playing, u need to until your happy.
