Monster Forks On Ssie?

  1. My forks are in need of a full rebuild and I noticed some chips on the sanctions so I thought about replacements. Performance is not a huge issue on a 750 plodder so like for like will be ok.

    Will these from a monster fit?

    I am unsure about the length of the Monster forks verses the later SS ones.

    Anyone know if they are the same?

  2. Too short and no other ducati forks are same length. I have ST4S legs on my naked SSie. ST4S and monster are same length, about 30mm shorter than SSie. My fork tops are level with top yoke and I have risers and bars. If you fit different clipons fixing below the yoke they will work.

  3. Thanks for the info. Pity that was my best hope because good condition ie forks 750 or 900 seem to be in short supply.

    Maybe heli bars are an option but the are not cheap.

    I wonder how much a 30mm drop would kill the handling

  4. Depends howfar you have the, thru the yokes. You may lose far less than 30mm. Worth a quick measure up

  5. I recon I have about 12mm above the clipons so if I pushed them down a bit I might only lose 10mm of ride hight. I am tempted to try for the money, SBK conversation is my other option but that will cost much more

  6. You can always resell them...you could just convert the internals to sbk instead, lots have done that

  7. I was trying to avoid a lot of work to be honest. GSXR forks come in at 50mm 53mm and 725 long so could be a good low effort swap.

  10. I have a set of 750 K5 damaged legs that I got for internals in a mad moment. I can give you measurements/pics if it'll help.

  12. PB magazine did an article about putting K5 internals in SSie legs. Meant to be good as ohlins track but I didnt get round to it. For sale if anyone wants to have a go.

  13. Sorry thats utter shit. If they were why would people swap out K5 unternals for ktech and ohlins...no doubt they may well still be better than standard forks but not ohlins quality

  15. The standard GSXR forks are good as standard but the lack the range of adjustable needed for different track conditions. I ran my track bike with just a change of springs and oil weight and it was fantastic, the standard rear shocks however are terrible and Ohlins made a huge difference
