Hi All, My 749 dark cuts out at low speeds and needs restarting on button, plus when accelerating from low speed does the same thing, I have been told could be TPS needs resetting, how involved is it to DIY or can anyone suggest a good garage near Swansea, or another symptom it could be. The exact same thing used to happen to my 999S, that was down to having a lightened flywheel though (not enough inertia to keep the motor running) , might be worth checking if yours has one, it was a popular mod .
TPS is a software reset so if you don't have the connection leads and software programs I'm afraid you are off to the dealers...
You can use a ~5£ BT OBD reader, a Fiat/Lancia 3 to 16-pin diagnostics cable and an Android phone with proper software (ScanM5X) to reset the TPS.
thanks all, been told leads are £20 and software free to download. is it easy as plug and reset? seen some posts saying gotta take tank off, drill holes here and fiddle with throttle bodies and throttle stops and set to 1.3 degrees and 63mV back off and reset..... it in depth but maybe worth it if dealers are charging £500 plus..
I have contacted a few local garages but they all seem to be scared.....lol. Luigi moto have had good praise but its taking time off work etc. as flywheel upgrade i think bike is totally standard, no term etc so don't think flywheel would have been done and no receipt in history, but thanks for the info.
If your bike was fitted with a non-linear TPS then that would apply. Your 749 has a linear TPS and reset is done via diagnostic software. Post whereabouts you are and there may be a kind forum member who can do it for you.
