I've bought and sold quite a few Ride-Ons and the odd Lawn/compact tractor. Apart from the hydrostatic transmission or trans-axle they are easy enough to work on,a H-U-U-U-G-E number of parts are interchangeable between manufacturers, usually pretty sturdy as they have to cope with the ham-fisted,no or low-maintenance Mr Average-with-a-few quid.... The most common issue is mower deck rotting out:easily avoided by cleaning the underside of compacted grass at the end of the season and giving it a coat of engine oil....but you'd think you were advising Owners to paint the Forth Bridge, they make such a song and dance about it. Check out how many ride-ons are on ebay with no,or a useless, mower deck. Plenty of money to be made out of the hobby though:lately I've had all sorts of east Europeans buying up anything with a decent name,Husqvarna/Honda etc. And now I've got a totally irrational desire to build a twin-engined,articulated, 4 x 4 tractor mower...just for the hell of it you understand...(like this, but smaller:think Spinal Tap)...
Ducati SF 5 years old. 4000 miles last year. KTM SMT 4 years old. To soon to say what the mileage will be. Probably add 50% to my bike miles overall, taking a few off the Ducati. Peugeot Partner van. 10 years old 15-18,000 per year. Landrover Discovery. 15 years old. 4000 miles per year. Bloody uncomfortable, knackering bicycle thing. Age and make unknown. Never leaves the garage except in dire emergencies. Flat tyres.
another set of wheels would have finished it Yeh, the decks get a lot of abuse and rot quite easily. I couldn't afford a JD, so bought a castlegarden, bought it because belts etc easily replaced and cheap. As you know, the engines just go on forever.
I can't vote as I don't drive, I was well into my late 20s before I'd even got behind a wheel of a car, had a handful of lessons and drive the missus car on Ls occasionally. I kinda like the last of the two stroke era mx bikes but most my bikes have been new or 5 years at the most.
Once again I'm in the minority (less than 18%) bracket... Car less than 10 years old, bike more than 10 years old... Main bike is a 1999 ST4 Main car is a 2008 Honda Accord Tourer I would have been in the 20% bracket (both car and bike over 10 years old) if I hadn't had to buy a replacement car in January because the previous one - 2005 Honda - was written off by a blind, stupid idiot.

My daily driver is my 2012 T5 Transporter but it mainly just goes to the train station and back. At weekends I use my 1967 Samba if the weather is up to it. I don't really have a main bike - I SORN and ride different ones every year. So far this year I have been riding my 2004 TTR 250 and my 1995 888 SP4 but I'll also be using my Desmosedici.
Now that the Mutley is gone, I'm left with: 1995 Merc SL AMG 1997 Volvo S70 commuting snotter 1999 Toyota Amazon expedition wagon (also being sold) 1979 BMW airhead.
Nothing exciting here: 63 plate Yaris 63 plate Merc 2002 Renault master with nice Ducati reg K5 gixer 13 plate multi Hoping to add CR250 or similar off roader soon
