Hello, I have a question on upgrades for a 899 that mainly lives on the track. I have around 1800 gbp for upgrade and am struggling to choose. Would you get light weight wheels which would use up the entirety of the budget or slipper clutch and track fairings or slipper clutch plus something else? Thanks in advance for any help. I did think or suspension but I think it's spot on having ridden dds kitted bikes so not a major area of concern. Thanks
What do you use the bike for? Ttx rear would swallow half then a ktech or similar kit in the front may just about be in range. Or put some money towards it and get a loud system
Already have a full akra system on it Mainly used for trackdays. i feel the suspension is good enough and maybe something in the future. The bike is in the dealers getting a magnesium cover installed right now and just thought whether using the budged to get a slipper clutch and track fairings or a set of light weight wheels would be a better option? Purely track wise.
If your having the mag casings put on may as well get the slipper put in at the same time, light weight rims work well on the 899,sell your standard rims to one of the 899 tri options guys as they are worth approx £800/1000 ish, ali subframe off the 1199 is a great weight saving mod and a lightweight battery, all worthwhile but dont over look the rear shock as standard one is pretty shit more so as you are doing a lot of track time. Quick edit, not sure the 1199 subframe fits with the 899 tank,i have the 1199 ali tank on mine so have to have the 1199 subframe, believe me the 899 subframe is heavy as is the rear wheel.
I would definately go for the lighter wheels then look at getting the slipper clutch a bit further down the line.
I would go for the slipper clutch. Do the Tri options boys upgrade the clutch or the wheels first ! It will be one of the next things I do to my 1199
Already got a 1098r From my estimates - changing to lightweight wheels will save around 5kg unsprung - massive. already have a lightweight battery - but unsure to put it on the 899, or the 1098r or my race bike. slipper clutch is cheaper - but unsure how noticeable it will be - I rode it at cartagena and it didn't really bother me though.. obviously wheels is 2x the price of the clutch.
Anyone else find andyb boring? Always banging on about 1199, he loves the 1199 clearly and fair enough but we love the 899 as well what's the problem? All one big happy Ducati loving group! Defo on the wheels got bst's on my 899 and it's epic on track and road it's better than my 1199 turn in wise and corner speed and stability etc etc
Couldn't agree more. He has done it quite a few times too, maybe everytime he makes a post we should tell him his bike is inferior as he should have an 998R. As far as im aware he doesn't even own an 1199 so I wish he would just refrain from making those childish remarks in future it is becoming tedious and boring.
