  1. Hi Chris. Not so bad ta Have been lucky enough, despite a few hiccups,to have some better days.I have yet to go out on a bike, but I reckon a ride can't be to far off for me.I would like to see Merv and his scrambler some time, been a couple of years since our paths crossed.
An exciting day for me today as I am having a new workshop being assembled in my garden.A couple of my old bikes will be going in there, and I can tinker with them now and again.
Hope things are going as well, or hopefull better,as you would like Chris.Very much looking forward to a meet up,if possible,at our favourite cafe, for an all day breakfast.
    Ride safe.

  3. Today is another case of "hurry up and wait" :/

  4. Yesterday I re-built a retaining wall in the garden, this morning I have replaced the fascia above the garage, both jobs at home, since the end of January i have fitted and plastered a bathroom for a customer 7 days, i did 2 days last week and 3 days the week before and that's it for this year so far, i have a days work tomorrow and one on Monday though, so things are picking up!!!

  5. I don't know if you fitted it or are aware but you have a bit of an inferior pushrod bearing in your pressure plate Sinister - for the want of a small extra price outlay I would get a 'fully sealed' type in there. Just a thought.

  6. Fighting with a new PO system - how what has taken a year to put in place can improve and make something worse at the same time is astounding - talk about marking your own homework

On a brighter note they are cutting the grass outside my office window and I'm watching the whirlybirds

  7. Isn't it a wet clutch though so better to have an unsealed bearing in there?

  8. you are quite right and it's probably fine - I had missed that it was being converted to wet. :Shamefullyembarrased:

  9. In an impatient mood managed to accidentally hook a top hat tank mounting spacer from it's home and send it scuttling into the (thankfully external) bowels of 851 engine castings. Then spent 20 minutes with a torch and magnet on a stick before realising it was aluminium. All but gave up and then suddenly spied it - swear it wasn't there earlier. made my day - it's the little things always

  10. So, having stressed out for nine hours yesterday at my office, trying to get all of two computer workstations ready, I deployed them today with complete success.
Part of the stress yesterday was because they were destined for the Isle of Wight - if it goes wrong on the Isle of Wight, it's a faff and a lot of egg on the face. Stress.
A good deal of satisfaction today was because the deployment went flawlessly and the weather was bloody wonderful. Lovely trip on the ferry there and back, gorgeous sunshine. After yesterday, today was like a slice of heaven.

When I got home, I changed the pads on the (single disk) 750 as the front brake felt "funny". Cleaned up the caliper (yuck) and noticed plenty of wear left on the pad.
That is, on the LH pad. The RH pad had a sliver of braking compound left that was thinner than the dust that had accumulated around it.

This prompted some furious cleaning of the area concerned until I suddenly remembered that this bike has always, always, from new, worn the pads unevenly. This is despite there being a change of forks during the period I have had the bike so I have to wonder, "Why?".

Pretty good day, especially spotting the brake pad wear issue. Note to self - look carefully at the wear indicators for both pads, don't be lazy.

  11. Fitted a Rottweiler airbox to my KTM and removed the SAS system and removed and plugged the lambda sensors. I'm hoping the crankcase breather filter is going to work. I don't want to burn oily air if I can avoid it. The breather pipe has a non-return valve though to maintain crankcase pressures so I'm hoping oil will condense and return to the crankcase before it reaches the valve otherwise oil might back up behind the filter. Other people have done this mod and say it works well so fingers crossed. Then its off to the dyno next week for a remap. Then I'm ready for some touring.

  14. Summer wheels put on the car, planted onions, parsnips, carrots, radishes, lettuce.
And read a bit more about the "lean start-up". Not a bad day, all things considered. Need to buy broad-beans and sugar-snap peas to plant.

  15. Thanks everyone, formal interview Wednesday, really enthused, the position feels right for me.

In garage based things, CBR bodywork is back from the paint shop, if I get a chance I'm going for the fire up at the weekend! [IMG]

Next job after the MOT is the Ducati MOT, but that is just a formality, as it's all good to go.

  16. That anti-flash number plate you've got on your bike doesn't work. They've sent you a glow in the dark one instead. Ask for your money back.

  17. I've been told I've got a rather large order and the funding is in place. I'll believe it when the contract deposit is in the bank :)

  19. just ate 7/8ths of a Tesco pizza in one go and I don't care what calories (feel a bit sick though) I saw a big strapping Fireman tell the world during that excellent food documentary recently that he does this all the time and he looked alright on it. It was ham and pineapple from the the 'Reduced' section and i added a big squige of garlic astronaut food and lots of cracked pepper.
