Well, I have some good news for you. I was working next to an old-fashioned clothes shop on Southampton row today, and noticed they had Loake shoes in the window for £89, so I went in. Old biddy in there with a very drawn expression served me. There's a sign outside saying they're closing down in September, and their website is down. I kinda felt sorry for her. Anyway, they've got Harris tweed jackets in there reduced from £300 to £150, as well as the aforementioned Loakes for relative pennies. She tried to flog me a jacket (tweed ain't my thang) and without even looking at me picked out a jacket that fitted me absolutely perfectly. I bought some shoes and promised to return for a jacket... Thing is it's top quality stuff for Top Shop prices. If you're looking for some smart clobber you could do much worse. The shop is Leonard Jay, on Southampton row, right on the corner of Bloomsbury Way.
Thanks for the tip. I will try to detour on my way to work when I am in London later in the week - I don't think the glue which I used to reattach the sole of one of my black "work" shoes will hold much longer, and I don't think that if I resort to black gaffer tape it will go unnoticed. I could do with a new whistle too.
I have a pair of Loakes Chelsea boots in black and a pair of the ankle high tan brogue boots........very comfortable.... ......but they don't look right with the camo gear I wear most of the time, so UK desert boots are the most likely footwear I use......
It's a long closing down sale. Check the dates on the comments.... Leonard Jay, 35 Southampton Row, London - Clothes - Men near Holborn Tube Station
I bought a Harris tweed jacket fresh off the loom for £120 a few years ago from a little tweed shop down an alley in Stornoway. Then I gave up drinking and lost a stone in weight so its too big and I've never worn it. Pity. Its a lovely thing. The pockets smell of the 1950s.
Nothing wrong with boring :Bag: I check a mans shoe if it's not clean and tidy and decent then for me that says all I need to know :Shy:
