Just rode to my dealer to have to the back brake sorted & they found a nail in the rear ! Plug it I said - it's only got 1800 miles on it! One hour they said!! £90 quid inc vat & 1 hour later !! Is that a bit on the high side or what?? D
Had a screw removed at my local tyre fitters which cost £17 including balancing. Sounds like you got charged dealer rates for a job that is likely to take 45 minutes if fitting tyres isn't your main business. Lesson learnt if it happens again. Andy
Solicitor...£250 an hour Doctor....£250 an hour you pay the going rate for what you need at the time...........unless you can get it cheaper
I got shafted at Fins in Redhill last year. I not only had to come back home with the mechanic so they could borrow my stand I even had to show him how to take the wheel off! And they charged me £70!
My solicitor said " its just a game of poker Andrew, that's all it is, a game of poker" Make of it what you will!!:Hilarious:
in my humble opinion probably wouldn't be able to do it any which way......my point as I'm sure you could see was that if you want what someone else can provide because you cant do it yourself, then you have to pay........
Name and shame.... You could of course learn how to plug it yourself and carry a ready-plugger kit? Simple once you've seen it done or watched a plug or sticky string used to repair said puncture on YouTube.
Sorry! when I saw the title of the post I thought it was the latest claim by Eddie Millibando on how long it would take him to pay off the deficit. I expect Cameron to claim " I'll reduce that deficit in 45 minutes" in the near future.
Never quite sure why people moan so much about paying for having stuff done. Paying the wages alone of a qualified mechanic must be at least £15-20 per hour these days, then add on all the costs of running premises, insurance etc. I bet it would take most of us at least an hour to repair to puncture on a bike ridden in and then ridden out.
I got shafted by a main dealer in Bristol, 3 hours labour for fitting a Scott oiler! Would expect an hour or an hour and a half labour at most
Please note these kits are for a "get me home at low speed only" repair. Typically maximum distance 30km at 30kph. You must take it to a garage for a full repair. Don't think you've sorted it, just because you got it reinflated.
You had the tyre fixed at a dealers, not a tyre place. They stopped what they were doing to fix it,i bet by the time they had everything ready, made the repair and cleaned up after there wasn't much change from an hour. Did you ask what the likely charge would be ? I recently paid some one £22 to fit a tyre, but it took him ten minutes tops, he didn't have to get different tools to do the job and he is a tyre fitter, not a trained mechanic with a very expensive workshop to run. Personally I'd have been grateful not wingeing. I would have had sympathy if you were a spotty 17 yo with a 125 Im off for a ride, have a nice day
