899 Blimey, How Hot Are These Bikes?

Discussion in 'Panigale' started by WhichBike, Apr 23, 2015.

  1. My nads are suffering after a couple of hours riding today and it's not even summer!!

I had prior knowledge that these things put out some mighty heat but holy crap.. haha.
I have the termis - are they even worse!?

Is there anything that can be done to improve it like changing the box under the seat that holds the excess pipework?

Failing that, have other 899 riders found some great cool leathers oro ther clothing that copes with this the best as I need some new gear anyway.

    Cheers!!

Greaaaaaaaat bike still. I wont let sweaty bollox spoil the occasion. :)

  7. Get the pipes wrapped

  8. You know I was gonna do it seeing as I borrowed your chaps :upyeah:

  9. yeh, well mind and wash them this time.

  10. Ride faster

  11. My 996 is cooking my bits already,

  12. Don't know what your wearing, but the 999 is seriously warm in traffic. This is miles more bearable in leathers than in jeans. In leathers it's pretty much OK; in jeans extremely toasty.

  13. Do a lady Godiva :)
But seriously all my Duc's produce heat the only one that I don't notice is the Streetfighter, I notice it on my 848 Evo and my 1199 but I don't find it unbearable, I find the normal summer heat harder going in full leathers rather than the heat from the exhaust.

  14. Where can I get that done and what does it involve?

  15. Not sure where will do this but have a look on a motorsports supplier such as demon tweets, you can buy the wrap but it is expensive. Needs to be held in place with stainless straps. I did my aprilia Mille and it was so much better, there are also some power gains to be made but guess these are minimal

  16. I hear cerramic coating helps reduce the heat

  17. OK, cheers. I will at least look into it.

  18. Maybe it's the termis. Never actually had a problem with heat coming through the seat on my 899. Just been wearing Kevlar jeans and Kevlar long johns lately, last weekend I was flipping freezing.

  19. Umm, oh well, the noise and mid range is worth it. :)

  20. Yeah lol.
