Coppers speeding????

  1. Riding bike to camp last night on the M25 a copper drives past in the outside lane. I know im going faster than maybe I should so glance down to see and ease off to a more appropriate speed. 89MPH.
He must of been going approx 95-100MPH judging how easily he over took. Il point out also that his `blues and twos` wernt on, and he just carried on not a care in the world in the outside lane till he was out of sight.

So how fast has an officer of the law over taken you at with out his shield of lights and siren??????
Who can beat 89MPH without getting tugged?????

  2. One of my neighbours is in traffic and they have to do some high speed driving every now and then, tick some kind of box. He told me when the got 335d's they tested them in North wales. "We kicked its fucking head in" his words not mine!

  3. I followed two motorcycle Police once at speeds up to 95. It was like getting an escort, in fact the cars we passed were looking at me as if I was a VIP : ) They were cool guys.

  4. I don't think they have to use the sirens when they're speeding, but I thought they had to put the blue lights on?

Unless of course, like most of us, they were just 'making progress' :upyeah:

  5. Pug 405, 125mph on the M3, 3am, many moons ago. I'm on a high speed run back from Southsea with a couple of friends in the car. Two marked ST1100 cruised past in the outside line, throttles pinned. The first one kept going, the 2nd rolled off, gave me a thumbs up and continued on his way.

Shortly after this, I pulled over and changed my underwear.

  6. Similar thing back in '99 two of us headed down to Cornwall for the eclipse and the traffic on the A30 was horrendous. We tagged onto the back of a police motorcyclist who gestured to us to close up the distance. Then he flicked on his blues and two's and the three of us 'filtered' at great velocity for a good few miles till he turned off for RAF St Mawgan, giving us a wave as he went. Saved us so much time getting that Police escort :upyeah:

  7. Nothing written down that they need lights and sirens when travelling at excess speed. Only need em to clear off other road users. Also, sometimes it is a case of softly softly catchy monkey.

  8. you see, you just had to go and spoil the whining with a fact didnt you.....

  9. Oooops, erm, coppers-hang em all.

  10. It's a stitch up guv! can't see who's whining on this thread. In fact, I think everyone's being very positive towards the police

  11. +1

You aint going to creep up on anyone with lights and sirens going! At the end of the day, they are human, same as you and I? Perhaps they just felt like a quick blast of warpspeed for a few miles?

Who's going to stop them? :upyeah:

  12. last year in north/central wales i closely followed a police bmw car ,country roads with great bends upto 135 mph, several miles later we got to a roundabout were i pulled up behind them, and as stated before got a thumbs up sign before i peeled off left and they went right, also in london i was with 3 bike cops reaching upto 80ish and again a thumbs up signal, basically if you keep a safe distance and they see you can manage the speed then they enjoy it,just like we do.And when they are off duty i cannot get anywhere near the ones who might ride out with us!!!

  16. This hasn't happened to me but can I tell stories of friends or relatives this might've happened to?

  17. The thumbs up means NIPS posted ..... Rear camera rolling ....

  18. Sunday A40 friendly Police BMW tearing it down the outside lane. All cars sticking to speed limit only him and me behind him. Number of times police "escort" from city centre to Lewisham as they were going to Biggins hill airport. M4/M25 Police bikes doing a ton and me behind them.

As far as I know if they are making progress on official business they need to have minimum blues on. If they have nothing and camera catches them it is like you and me. Well almost like you and me as some call that friend ....
