And which day did you chaps vote would be summer north of t border, just so' we know, like. Been sunny in Fife today, I presumed that was the Scottish heat wave this year, skinny dipping in the West Sands.
Torn between a place in Carcassonne/Andorra/Perpignan triangle or Cognac/Limoge/Bordeaux triangle so doing a week in each area
Parents had a place near Auch in Gascony - pleasant enough (empty - the Gers is the least populated département in France). Armagnac rather than cognac. You can pretty much stick a pin blindfold into a map of France and you would end up in a nice place. I quite like the Ardèche - amazing roads and a river for rafting. Also a big fan of northern Burgundy - Avalon, around there. Great wine and steaks!
Today I had a pleasant sunday lunch here, Haddock rarebit followed by Hake, and a lemon posset. Nice.
glidd, you're right, lots of lovely places n I'm looking for a nice warm spot to ease the arthritis. Hopefully retire in 5-10 years so possibly looking at a do-er upper with a view to having it done before retirement but swmbo will probably want a palace! Torn between Languedoc and Poitou Charente
Booked a nights stay for my journey from Mougello gp in Lucerne Switzerland Jimvee, Sarlat is very vice

My parents never spent winter in their French home - cold and miserable and wet. For real heat, the Côte d'Azur is a lot warmer, but you need to be in the arrière pays or there are far too many people and it's much too expensive. But it can be a "Christmas dinner on the patio" sort of place. In laws used to live on the Côte d'Azur - I went there often.
Went to the shark enclosure today. There's a little-known but foolproof defence against sharks. Sharks will only attack you if you're wet.
Lucerne is a great town. Quite twinky, very scenic with steamships on the lake. The Swiss transport museum is there - not that I've visited it.
