Yeah I would imagine so! Zircotec offer the headers being done in a range of colours and when I got a quote its was £150 I think. Can't remember if VAT is added on top or not though. Think that might be a winter job!
well if its excluding Vat then its £180, I don't think that's a bad price, but then you have to take the exhaust off, on the Panigale its not an easy job from what I hear. The heat shield looks awful even in Carbon, I would like to see just the bare pipe.
Yeah, that's the thing isn't it? If you're confident then it could be a good winter project though. I was thinking that with my white bike a red exhaust could look cool...
Not sure what colour I would go for on the 1199, the bike has matte carbon and some red anodised bits on it so depending what type of red it is it might suit mine as long as it aint pillar box red.
Performance Colours - a ceramic coating range that delivers the ultimate in thermal barrier performance and attractive finishes for motorsport and performance applications. I was thinking of the Chilli red, think that it might look quite good on yours too. Found the email too, it's £150+VAT and the shipping and the turn around is 10-15 working days. He'd said that you can get the 'Primary Range' (only available in a matt black) for less though if you liked the look of it.
Yup, know were your coming from... 1199 just the same. Cooked thighs...... high speed is the only short-term solution, though when you slow down it's even hotter !!! The paint the F1 boys use on their exhaust systems lowers the heat escaping but not to the extent we would no longer notice it. The U-Bend, under the seat is the worst culprit.... Ow, Ow, Ow, Ow, Ow ! I've seen some shields about with extended skirts that might work. I'm also considering using the OE heat-shield, inverted, and attached to the carbon one that's currently fitted to box in that section. Heat is not the enermy with exhaust systems.... the hotter they run , the better. But their proximity to damagable items, such as one's legs, is another matter altogether.
to ride faster is the best solution i can come up with! I've actually been riding without a heat shield and just heat wrap since last October was fine over winter, but now its starting to get a tad warm when stopped so will be glad when heat shield finally gets replaced under warranty next week
Overall its a bloody small price to pay but it would be nice if there was a low cost, simple solution. What we need is Nasa to start shifting some of their space shuttle heatshields on Ebay
If this was a girls magazine, I would understand all this fluff about the colour to paint your exhaust pipe..... But guys, come on now ! As an old poof myself, I could be forgiven, but I think I'm in a minority on this forum, so what's your excuse ?
heat shield now replaced by ducati and i am very happy to have it back was far too hot without it this week forgot how rusty it was underneath tho... no i wont be painting it
