Chinese Aftermarket Fairings????

Discussion in 'Ducati General Discussion' started by Cornish Duke, Aug 25, 2012.

  1. Has anyone out there had any experience with these Chinese/Hong Kong aftermarket fairing companies floating about on flebay?
Are they any good or are they best left in China??
Has anyone had 1 fitted to a 748/916?

  2. I have just fitted a set to my son's cbr 600rr, some of the fixing holes were slightly out otherwise very good value for money.

  3. I fitted some to my 1098s.good value for money, bit of work to fit but worth the money.

  4. Didn't Dainesebird have some on her 848?[h=1][/h]I had some from Superbike Body work in Wales, I can recommend them...:upyeah:

  5. Any one particular company or are they all much of a muchness?

  6. I've had some fitted to my 749 for a couple of years. Paint work is good from 10 feet away. Was out riding at about 35 mph last week when one of the bottom brackets snapped, air got in the fairing and ripped it off the bike. Now its all just for the bin as they're all an individual fit so replacements won't be any good.

  7. Yep, she has. Im sure there are some pics of here in the Superbike gallery and Trackday photo threads. Her bike looked very cool when I saw it at Rockers earlier this month. Im going to pick up some black ones over the winter myself :upyeah:

  8. i have some on my 748, colour match is not very good but they looked awesome after a painter made old paint look newer, paint finish is near perfection, been on mine for 2 years had no problems so far,

but as above bit of a fiddle to fit

  9. superb value for money some slight overspray issues but cant fault the price compared to rip off Birtian ,did take a while to get here though

  10. Got some on my track fireblade, well chuffed for the price. Can also recommend superbikebodywork for duke specific stuff.

  11. What's the colour match like to the original paintwork. I.E Tank?

  12. What colour is your tank ... no, really, what colour IS your tank?

The problem with paint is that it fades in the sun over time, so it doesn't stay the same. Add the fact that Ducati paints in batches, like all manufacturers do, and it will be a nightmare to perfectly match a brand new bike, let alone an older one, as there will be subtle variations over just about every panel.

If you want your bike to match perfectly, get it all repainted at once.

If you want to spend less (read: be cheap!) and get replacement panels, make sure you don't mix panels close together as the difference will stand out more. You probably wouldn't notice the difference between a set of new fairings with an original tank.

    HTH!
