848 Fan Error 18.2

  1. Hi guys,

So I've been with my beautiful Italian girlfriend around a month and all has been well until yesterday. The warning light appeared as I was on the way home after I took her out for about an hour through the countryside twisties, I checked the Ecu error msg and it said fan so today after carefully removing the side fairing I found the fuse had blown so replaced accordingly and took her just to the gym and back and all is well. I checked both fans spin freely, should I get it checked out or does anyone know what may have caused this and have any ideas on how to prevent a reoccurrence please.

    Many thanks
    Dan

  2. Might be prudent to change the fan relay. It is on the right hand side of the battery box. There are two relays and the fan is the front one. Only £1.99 off eBay.

  3. Good idea, I will order one now. Is this a common issue do you know?

  4. The relays are prone to water ingress and Verdi Gris. The front relay is for the fans and the rear for the coils/injectors/fuel pump. For the problems they cause they should really be a service item, but they aren't. Buy 3, replace the two current ones and keep the 3rd as a spare.
