999s Colour Scheme

Discussion in '749 / 999' started by Phil Whitehead, May 5, 2015.

  1. i've recently acquired a 2004 model (silver frame/grey swing arm) 999S finished in red with a red/white nose cone and red/white tail section.
I want to get it repainted to the correct factory colours which i believe to be an all red nose cone with a red/white tail section. Is this correct??

  2. As far as I am aware, it should all be red, with no white bits.

That's how my 2003 999S, grey swing arm, silver frame was, originally.

  5. that looks cool. I didn't think the red/white nose cone was standard, cheers for the reply

  6. Usual Ducati thing - the only rule is that there are always exceptions to the rule :D

  7. That's a factory image from the time from an Australian mag - but it has an all red nose cone? Red & white seat unit...

  8. I think the Red and White nose cones were all optional extras as in my R below. I have a 2003/4 999R brochure that show all images are red nose cones with no white.

  9. many thanks all, appreciate the advice

  10. Can't ever remember a white nose being an 'optional extra' Exige, looks like someone has painted it..
The only white nose 999's were Fila and Xerox models

  11. Yeh, sorry- I meant from the dealer or aftermarket, not from the factory :)

  12. thanks for all the good advice guys, this is the definitive answer after consulting both the 2004 and 2005 workshop manuals:-
2004 MY 999S mono all red, no white bits
2005 MY 999S mono red, red and white tail unit

  13. Not sure about the red but my yellow 2004 999S mono came in all yellow with a yellow/white tail,as far as I am aware the red models were the same, the white nose bits are aftermarket on the 'S' models...and BTW there's nothing necessarily wrong with non-standard ,beauty is in the eye of the beholder;) 20150510_153727.jpg

It's been some time since we had a red yellow ding dong.
