Exhaust on 1993 900 Superlight and other Goodies

  1. Howdo!! Your exhaust........

It's a Silmoto full system (Same as mine, used to be in the £1700 price bracket when they first came out - few and far between, 45mm headers, 1mm thin walled stainless pipe) Spareshack has just the headers (Which are slightly different to the full system as they will accept standard Hi level cans, I believe the full system has a bigger diameter connecting section.

  4.

  5. It does on mine .

  6. Howdo Pipsqueak!

I think yours has been ungraded at sometime.

Mk1's ( best of the bunch) came with:
    Cast iron floating discs.
    Carbon front & rear huggers.
    Marvic split rims.
    Hi level cans
    Single seat (Thin seat pad).
    Coffin type master cylinders.
    White frame.
    white decals on the bodywork.
And the plaque on the headstock.

Under-slung/floating rear caliper came in 1994 in exchange for losing the Marvics :frown:

Now standby for me to be proved wrong

  7. Well I wonder what mine is , it was first registered March 1993 , I presume its a MK2 its No 110

  8. My money is on the pipes being Gia Cia Moto
    nice bike

  9. fitted on mk2 to mk5 and fe

    put your bike on here.
    Ducati900sl.com (The Ducati Superlight register)

  10. Simon, I think yours is a MkI, maybe! If it was a MkII it would state on the top yolk plate
If you haven't got it already get a copy of the 'Standard Catalogue for Ducati's' by Ian Falloon.
I think only the MkI had the overslung caliper. And the Marvics, goldline brembos and floating discs, white frame and italians igintion
Yours doesn't have the white frame or the Marvics, but does have the vented cltuch cover (std MkI- it's alloy) and non black foot rests

MkII dropped the goldlines and had std SS brakes, std alloys, carbon clutch cover, underslung caliper

MkIII (which I have) had the std wheels, carbon clutch cover, return of the goldline and FF discs. By this stage they had the bronze frame and japanese electrics. But still only two clocks (rev, speedo)

MKIV and V had the temp gauge

Your best bet is to call Ducati and ask them. I have a number for the Ducati UK they told me a whole load of stuff about the two 851s I just bought from Holland. For instance one was imported to the UK in 1991 and went to a dealer in Northampton, before going back to Europe. The other was shipped to a dealer in San Marino in 1991 and didn't have it's warranty registered until 2001!

Also bear in mind in the early 90s all manner of things happened, one the guys on the 851 forum was saying about SLs being shipped out as SSs! Wouldn't you be pi$$ed if the day you went with the missus to get your new bike to be told by the dealer it only had one seat and she'd have to get the bus home!

  11. Sim, the Termignoni full spaghetti system didn't make concession for the standard footpeg or the SL high exhaust carriers, it came with its own, and the exhausts are nearly under the indicators. You'd also need the performance rearsets as the levers being slung lower than the peg foul the pipes, of which the bore was bigger than standard, as the stock fairing needs spacing in order to fit.

Also the carbon tubes on the Termi system are made differently to the tubes on yours, which are moulded instead of wrapped :)

You could get Termi stickers and throw them on there though... and WHERE IS YOUR AGIP STICKER YOUNG MAN? Hmmm? :upyeah:

  12. Hi Sev

Thanks for this , which Agip sticker is missing ? any help with size location and where to buy would be appreciated.
    Thanks

  13. There's no agip sticker missing, it's just a thing that a lot of people put on their bikes back then as agip were the lubricant partner of Ducati at the time. You can pick them up all over the place ;)

  14. I think mine might be sporting some Baines Racing stickers soon ?

  15. I think the MkIII that i have came with them on the side when new. but not laquered in, just like the No1 on the back

  16. originally I think they were supplied with the documentation for the bikes when new for owners to put on themselves along with optional number 1's, hence not lacquered in

  17. they look like staintunes to me,CA cyclework used to do them. very nice indeed.

  18. The headers are not termig, the way it fits to the head is different, they are not sil moto, i bought the ones off nog and they are certainly different to mine, my guess.....
Scorpion, or Akrapovic as they are now. i recognise the shape and have seen these before, i think they only made 3 lots so as rare as rocking horse shite.
I do know where one of the others is so will have a look when i can get to it!

  19. I Think thanks to Pablo we have determined it is a full Sil Moto as it is the same as the one he had , thin wall , dia end cans etc. Its an added bonus to have it .

  20. Well I reckon it's SILMOTO full system (Same as mine, I got mine from Steve Wynne - Sports M/C, donkeys ago), which are totally different to the Silmoto headers you get that fit to normal Hi-level cans. I think the original Scorpion system had a fatter/ maybe more oval shape end cans (As per SPR's Monster  they used to race/track ). The Silmoto shares a similar carbon exhaust strap of the Scorpion system. We could run a book on it?
