900sl Coil Pick-up Wire To Kokusan Identification 1996 Model

Discussion in 'Supersport (1974-2007)' started by KG900SL, May 3, 2015.

  1. Good day,

Please can someone confirm which of the 2 pickup coils go to the terminals as marked on the picture below:

I have traced from wiring schematic, but might be wrong.

    Pin1 WHITE
    Pin2 RED
    Pin3 BLACK
    Pin4 YELLOW

The coil pick wires have been repaired, thus out of their sockets
    Red/White
    Black/Yellow

    Anyone with a picture please.

    Thank You
    K:)

  4. Thank you GENTS!

That has sorted out my dilemma for now, Next is to fit the IGNITECH unit:D

    Much appreciated:upyeah:

  5. Do you know why I have those photos?

    I bet you can guess...............;)

  6. Lemmie Guess... Cause some dumb ass like me at some stage would be looking for ref material...:upyeah:

Well my sad story is, if you can believe this... I bought the bike in 2004, took it all apart for an immediate rebuild, notes and pictures were taken... Well then a bunch of BS came my way, everything boxed, moved house, built a new house, career change, notes and pics gone... bla bla bla. So recently had some time on my hands, so it was time to finish what I started... I kind of try do things to the best of my ability, and OCD kicks in more often than not... So now for every 1 hours worth of rebuilding I spend 2 hours of GOOGLING, and chatting to the very informative and helpful forum member's, so far so good, almost there :)

My next forum question is going to be How to hook up the Ignitech unit to the Ducati 900SL harness, and best locations for the application, Ignitech's wiring diagram sort of sucks... Looking for PICS, they tell It all...;)

    Regards
    Kurt

  7. One tip I would offer, with the Ignitech you have the facility to connect a TPS (Throttle Position Sensor) which you fit to the carbs. This greatly improves rideability, particularly at mid-throttle and is well worth the effort.

  8. When I shopped around the FCR 41 carbs I inquired if the carbs came with the TPS bracket, CCW Chris said no?
I read your TPS thread, nice work there!
I believe there is a TPS kit, bracket and sensor available from Cosentino engineering.

    Thanks

  9. I bought the TPS along with a bracket from a seller in Holland, although I wasn't too sure about the strength of the supplied bracket (I think it was more suited to a banked carb setup) for my application so I made a new one but it was easy to fit and didn't cost too much. It 'tamed' the bike by stopping it from bucking and surging, yet improving power delivery.

  10. Thanks Dukedesmo!

Contacted Frank MX Holland, no stock and none anticipated:Arghh:

  11. Can't help with the TPS but if the bracket I got from Frank MX is any good to you, you're welcome to it.

The reason it didn't work for me is that the replacement throttle shaft he supplied with the TPS stuck out too far from the carb to allow it to be fixed to anything, it may work on a banked carb setup?

  12. Thanks Dukedesmo, very kind of you!
Do you perhaps have a picture of the bracket?, and possibly the part no of the TPS that you are using?
The throttle shaft is 8 mm, so im considering drilling and tapping in a 4 mm thread and then making up a suitable drive to fit into the TPS
