  1. It is booked in at Ducati next week to have the racing generator kit fitted but they won't look at the gearbox and say I ll have to book it in for that on another day a week or two later and it's a 70 round trip, I offered to leave it with them as long as they wanted but they said I couldn't?

  2. Change your dealer!

  3. I will have to but the next dealer is 90 miles away

  4. You're lucky to have the choice, my nearest dealer is 150 miles away!

  5. You're in Aberdeen too then :)

I'm doing a 300 mile round trip Saturday to the dealer....

  6. Hahaha, yeah I am!

It's not really that bad to be honest, I took the coast road to Dundee then cut down before heading over. Meant very little dual carriageway but took me about four and a half hours... Lol.

  7. Agree with Bradders, low rev upshifts 7k and below clutch shifts, only use qs when pushing on,i am a bit paranoid about qs and premature gearbox problems and not sure of the quality of the ducati qs ,guess its been built to a budget so changed mine for a hm pro plus,i have been dialing in the settings for a few weeks and am happy with the results, but i dont think the gearbox is as fragile as the 1098 as i have not heard any problems from the 899 challenge bikes and they all run the standard qs.

  8. Jeff Green was telling me that the gearboxes are twice the size of that of a 1098. He also said that the quickshift on the panis are very good. Seperate cut times for each gear and the ignition feeds back in gradually and seemlessly unlike some after market units.

  9. I have heard done really good feedback about the dqs on panini unlike the 1198/848 which I wouldn't use

  10. Hi there just wondered did you ever get to the bottom of the gearbox issue.
Mine is having the same issues I have real trouble selecting neutral and the it gets stuck in 1st or other gears....nightmare!
I would appreciate it if you let me know if you fixed the problem.
    Cheers

  11. nobs, they should have insisted they looked at that before fitting any other accessories!

  12. oh crap, what mileage has it done?

  13. Yeah they did I thought they lubed and adjusted the shift linkage inside the box but I think it's starting to rear its ugly self again, see how it goes Monday at Silverstone, good luck with yours but it sounds like a similar problem

  14. sounds like tosh to me. The parts that are lubed with gear oil permanently then!

  15. The linkages can be prone to drying out on selector and quickshifter. Ive had the aforementioned issues and all that was needed was a squirt of oil

  16. I was experiencing something similar and i took the shifter apart, cleaned an unbelievable amount of shite out, regreased, reassembled and it all went back to normal.

  17. Hello, new to the forum, just signed up so I could reply to this thread.

What was the out come of this issue?

My 1299 has literally just started doing this after 3,800 miles. Gear selector rod seems to go past that point where you normally go, "Ah, that's 1st gear" and goes all floppy and gets stuck.

I have to hook my foot under it and knock it back up in to 2nd. The engine management light came on the other day and the DQS stopped working entirely.

When I stopped for 10 mins and started it back up, the issue was gone and it felt all back to normal. However, just been out again today and it go stuck in 1st again, no engine management light this time but after shifting up to 3/4th, I couldn't get down past 2nd this time, it was stuck.

Shifted back up to 6th gear and then back down again and it went to 1st. Pulled in to my house and turned it off.

Going to drop it off with my local dealer this week but he said on the phone, "DQS issue when it didn't work was probably a software fault but it sounds like a gear box issue the way you describe it getting stuck but then it could just be a spring or the selector not returning back to position properly".

Will keep you posted as to what's going on.

  18. Since they cleaned and adjusted the forks inside the box it's been fine, it does sound like the same fault as yours

  19. Cheers for the reply, seems that way so we'll see this week.

My bike also has a hot starting issue as well, has had it since I got it. Cold starts are fine but when you've been belting it about for an hour and stop for fuel or a 5-10 minute break, it struggles to fire back up.

Sometimes I have to turn the ignition off, leave it a sec, turn it back on and try again. I'm not over filling the tank, like someone suggest could be the issue and I'm not touching the throttle when starting back up and I've tried using the throttle as well, to see if it helps.

I had this logged with Ducati and took it in for an inspection at my local dealer, they couldn't replicate the issue (even though one of his sales guys saw it first hand when he wasn't about). They decided to replace the starter motor on Ducati's instructions but that didn't solve the issue.

Notably, it hasn't really happened much since winter and it being cold, seems to alleviate the issue but I have no doubt it will come back when it starts warming up and it's bike weather again.

  20. My box is good (woheyyy)

I have heard that the linkages occasionally need lubing and adjusting from a specialist.

I only use my quick shifter above 7k or so, it's not all that smooth below that area I find.
