Well its time for a new lid as my two shoeis are both 10 years old plus. I have never had an arai before and am looking at the chaser v page/raw/giuliano or an rx7 gp if i see one cheap enough. Now, i have always taken a large in shoei but my mate measured my swede last night and its 57cm which in Arai is a medium. I know i should go try one on first but there are no arai stockists that close to me plus they want list prices. I can get a chaser V online around the £300 mark whereas the dealers want £440 ish. Anyone gone from shoei to arai? Any thoughts on the chaser v or the rx7 gp? Thanks!
I found the chaser to be odd on the sizing,I am a large in a shoei and rx7gp but a xl in a chaser the large was very tight but the xl was slightly to big,in the end I had the xl and had it repadded at the arai stand foc at a open day at on yer bike.
I was a large in Shoei and an XL an the Arai Chaser Blast V.. The shoei was quieter than the arai from an outside sound perspective. The Arai has the same comfort level as a shoei i suppose. Looks better than the shoei..
I'd strongly advise trying one on as the head shape is different. The Shoei NXR fits me like a dream and is literally the only helmet on the market that fits my cornish cone head swede. Shame I dont own one but it's definately going to be my next helmet! The Arai Rx7 is a very different shape.
ive got a medium in rx7gp and xspirit2. both an excellent fit so not sure if the old saying of either one or the other fits your head shape is true any more. must say the shoei is slightly more comfy but the arai colours are better
There are loads of places you can go and try a helmet to see what fits. I have just bought an AGV K5 Got an X lite Ago rep a nd Schuberth all different sizes but all fit correctly trying is the only way
AGV Corsa... best helmet I ever bought and looks ace! Only problem is that I can seriously see myself going for a Pista next!
It really is important to try one on before you buy, it is a significant investment, at least it is to me. I didn't believe this Arai or Shoei head thing until I tried an Arai on. Really really uncomfortable, instant pressure points. I'd intended to buy a Schuberth, that was ok but the Shoei fits like a snug glove. So another Shoei it was and Bought the GT Air as you can't get any sunglasses into an XS helmet, at least none I've found.
I use an Nolan X-Lite (Checa Spec Carbon Red). I also have Arai, whilst the Arai is a little quieter the X-Lite is still a good helmet by comparison. Thinking of getting a Chaz Davies rep. However the Arai's are mediums and the X-Lite is large.
Arai are dead comfy but the thing I found with Shark and Arai was that the vertical view was not as developed as the AGV. Peripheral vision and safety shoulder-checks were so dramatically improved that it made the decision a no brainer. So much more confident as a consequence.
