  1. being nosey really ....
But following a conversation with the wife who said that now I have the new bike I can sell the duc:Arghh:
I tried to explain that the new one is for all year round use and 250 miles a week commuting ..
I still need the duc for blasting for pure pleasure on nice summer days..falling on deaf ears:rolleyes:

So how many, what are they, and why more than one?..
In my view if you got the cash and the room you can't have too many..

Currently 848 minter and new yam mt09 tracer..

  2. 2011 - F800GS daily commuter, blood bike and Rospa trainer
2013 - Panigale 1199 ABS for solo fun
2014 - MTS1200GT, for taking the wifey out

  3. 1199s for the savage beast in me
848 Evo SE Corse for the odd track day and pleasure rides
848 Streetfighter for the childish hooligan within.

    Especially if they're Italian bikes.

  6. 1098 SF - Viagra for the soul.
KTM 990 SMT - Bargain fun. Holidays, shops, general larking. (couldn't afford 1190, wanted to like the Multi but didn't).

  10. OK, I'll bite. I've found it a bit of a slippery slope ... I find it much more difficult to sell them than buy them so I've added one bike after another and accumulated 10 over the last 8 years. If the Mrs takes issue with you, then have a chat with her about why she needs more than one pair of shoes ... ;)

    1. The bike I have had the longest is my 996SPS - my dream bike bought for myself for my 40th birthday. Definitely a keeper, but ...

    2. Two years later I was growing frustrated as it is way too track-focused for regular use on our bumpy SW roads - so I thought about supplementing it with the original Hyper when it came out ... but preferred the KTM 990 Superduke when I test rode them so bought one of those instead.

    3. Around the same time I persuaded the Mrs to take her test before the process became too difficult, not expecting she would want a bike of her own. Of course she did, so we bought her a 620 i.e Monster, though I ride it more than she does now.

    4. Sold on the idea of having different bikes for different uses it became quite an easy step to pick-up a very tidy ST4s for those odd occasions when I could ride a bike to visit one of my clients - a lot of bike for not much money at all.

    5. The end of 2-stroke racing in GP got me all nostalgic for my youth. I wanted the best 2-stroke I could find for the odd, local, sunny afternoon blast, and soon came to the conclusion that the peak of 2-stroke engineering was the final import-only RGV250SP - the VJ23. They are quite rare but I found a pretty good one at a very good price so added that one to my garage as a rolling restoration project.

    6. Shortly afterwards I came across an even nicer RGV250SP Lucky Strike for bargain basement money so I ended-up with another. The first will provide spares for the second if I need them.

    7. Three years ago I had a bust-up with my business partner and walked away with quite a bit of cash. I started thinking about a D16RR Desmosedici, because I had dreamt of one when they came out in 2008 but couldn't hope to afford it. When I got the chance to acquire the last brand-new one in the world with 3-years warranty and free servicing I didn't hesitate. I have SORNed all my other bikes and just focussed on the Desmo for the last three years, riding it on road and various European tracks ... but it is just too loud for UK circuits.

    8. So I bought an 848 track bike last year for when I need to be a bit quieter.

    9. The Desmo has made me very conscious of how difficult it is to use the full potential of a Superbike on the road, and with everything going retro I started hankering after an older genuine classic machine. I was thinking of a 900SS Bevel but really nice ones are so rare, and when I narrowly missed out on a beauty only to see a stunning 888 SP4 come-up earlier this year I didn't think twice. I've only ridden her three or four times so far but she is already my favourite. I may yet add a Bevel if funds allow and I can make space.

    10. Oh yes, I also have an old Yamaha TTR250 for a spot of green-laning and off-roading in the winter.

My name is Dave and I am a bike-aholic :Shamefullyembarrased:

  17. Ducati 848 evo for the track
KTM 390 Duke for road duties.

I see little point in sportsbikes on the road in honesty, so the KTM compliments my world perfectly.

However, I usually find myself on a mountain bike rather than a motorbike if the time arises.

  18. '03 Supersport 800SSie in Yellow of course, for the road, &
'07 Kawasaki KLX 300R for the dirt.
