Any one know why the 2013 - 2014 1199r has electronic suspension same as 1199s. But the new 2015 1199r does not have electronic adjustable suspension. I thought maybe the rules state no electronic suspension can be used in WSBK racing, but did this rule apply in 2013 - 2014.
Weight saving seems to mentioned in several places. The electronic kit is marginally heavier by the time you add the stepper motors and extra ecu and cabling etc.
Simple: the 2014 1199R was a fraud. Shame on Ducati releasing what was an 1199S in all but name really. The 2015 Panigale R is the real deal. A proper homologation spec superbike with a vastly superior engine and components. Do not confuse the 2!
Very very seriously thinking of px my 1199s in for the r. Hence some questions on difference between the 2014 - 2015 models.
So many differences. Everything from engine internals to even the gaskets. If Ducati go back to a framed chassis in 2017, the 2015-16 Pani R will be the one to keep.
Not going for the S then John? Either way both would prove a good choice, though for the road I think the S would provide you with more real world benefits as judging by the articles I've read the R still needs to be "worked" more to get the most out of it due to its higher rev ceiling. Most of the electronic trickery has been omitted on the R as a weight saving measure as it's much more of a track orientated machine.
Chaz Davies got within 4 seconds of his WSBK Panigale lap time last weekend at Imola, when riding the 2015 1199R complete with road tyres and lights. He was very impressed with how it rode compared to his racebike. In his words they felt very similar.
That's because they are. From what I understand (not much), the main difference are the cams which are going to be far more aggressive to help produce the extra 20-30hp. All the other primary components must stay the same.
Ok guys: The Panigale R (2015 version) has the Superleggera crank, rods and 1199/SL pistons. The cams are the same as SL and have steel inlet and titanium exhaust valves. Forks are a version of the Ohlins FGRT 2** series with a black anodising and the rear shock is TTX 2 If you have any more questions ask away.........
Ah right, I thought the 15' 1199R engine had both Ti inlet and exh valves. So to turn a 1199r 13-14 engine into an SL one, ya just need the crank turning into SL spec one. (Ben fox in usa supposed to be the man), SL Exh cams(Vertical - 14814361C + Horizontal - 14814381B) (1100 euro for both) and a pair of SL pistons(£???), oh and think, SL headgasket kit? Now, Image building/turning a 1199 OR 15' 1299 engine into a 1299R/SL engine.:Greedy::Greedy::Greedy::Wideyed::Wideyed:
The forks & shock you list are very different to those Ducati list on their website. TTX36 seems correct at the rear. But FGRT forks? I thought they were NIX30s on an 1199R?
