First off thank you for the add. I'm now the proud owner of a 2012 1199s. I've always had online fours and aprilia's . I'm 12 stone and luke fast(ish) road riding. What's the best suspension set up or settings to start off with? Thank you Greg
I weigh about 12 stone kitted up, I took mine to Kais for a set up, I will let you know the settings when I get home. But the rear is still to stiff even with the preload backed off as much as possible without ruining other settings. I will be going back for a lighter spring in couple of weeks. It was fine on track but on the road it just does not soak up bumps I'm happy with the front Will post the compression and rebound setting later
Check to see if your rear suspension is on F or P. i.e.flat or progressive. I find progressive more suited to the bumpy roads in the uk.
no..15 mins maybe 30 if you take your time and are careful. I used 2 metal bars on axle stands and supported the bike on them. The rest was easy. Just got the wife to help support things when I was lining it up.Personally I wouldn't dream of sitting it on the exhaust system....the weight of the bike on the exhaust...that can't do it any good
By the looks of it I used a long socket extension and sleeved it with plastic conduit to protect the bike from marks. Obviously both sides.
I urge you to eat more pies ! They are both delicious and fattening, thereby providing you with a great deal of happiness whilst sorting out your rear suspension issues all in one go. I would go further, by informing you that I have discovered that they are available in both savoury AND sweet flavours ! Whoopa-dee-do !
