Change just takes a bit of getting used to as I think the 1199 look is starting to grow on me a bit now and wouldn't say no to a nice 999R Xerox or 1198R Corse. Yep like I said I accept they are a ever growing business now and I guess they have to fund the racing costs some how and if that means shovelling out a load of scramblers so be it.They are getting more like the Jap manufacturers though and MV Agusta is a bit more like the ducati of old imo but even they are starting to add lots of new models to there range to grow. Diavel ,scrambler dread to think whats coming next.Quads are getting popular round wolves I notice.
Porsche went through a similar change ~10years ago. All the old die hards though they should continue making 911 till they died, which they would have!
Xaus never really made much of his racing career. Mind you, he did ride a Ducati...perhaps they should have ditched the sportsbikes and concentrated on shite trailies...
Rolex..... You're kidding right? They're a prime example of a luxury brand with a diverse model range to cater for a broad range of tastes. A quartz movement vs mechanical is as night and day as a v twin vs electric power...... They even have 'collections' targeting specific areas of the market as trends change..... Which is EXACTLY what the scrambler range is..... Just as there's a rolex to match your attire, the scrambler addresses the same brief. Koenigsegg (since 1994) hasn't had the same run at the market yet, Rolex has had over 100 years..... Ducati, if anything has done well to hold out so long. I agree it's always a shame when a company diversifies. 'Do one thing well' is a great mantra. It's just not the way of the world unfortunately.
You make a good point and I stand corrected on the rolex side of things. Ducati for me with always be associated with stunning looking superbikes and monsters of course as there staple bike. Gents, what the hell is wrong with you?, yes Ducati make beautiful superbikes and some of us are lucky enough to own them, however, why can't they expand the brand appeal with the likes of Scramblers etc, all this bullshit from certain folk saying they wouldn't buy one and taking the piss out of folk who like them is all crap, I don't like the Monster myself but wouldn't slag anyone who does, what happened to cameradory?... ive got the super bikes from Ducati but folk who criticise people who want the scrambler or any other model aren't really true bikers cos for 40 years of my time involved with bikes, it shouldn't matter a shit what folk can either afford or actually ride, we are all bikers! I welcome anyone who buys any new or used bike, the more bikers the better, they don't all have to be plastic rockets!!!!

Im all for ridicule piss take and banter. Any drastic change in direction for a company like ducati is going to raise a few eyebrows and attract some piss taking for sure.The diavel did and the same for those first multistradas.Only one I can think of which was pretty much accepted by all was the hypermotard recently. Even a drastic change in looks is enough ala 999.
Its still a motorbike with two wheels. I used to think we respected all bikers regardless of what they ride...we are all just as vunerable. As i said when it was first announced, i don't see any difference between wearing a plaid shirt and jeans to ride your scrambler as wearing a one piece suit, knee sliders and race boots to ride your superbike on the road. Its a pretty capable bike too looking at what this French bloke does with it.
I don't think its the bikes that devide opinion but more the cynical marketing and hipster cash-in that attracts the negative comments. Its pretty cringeworthy (the marketing).
