  1. They say that the British don't complain in the same forcefull manner that others do..!
Can't apply to me as I am their worst nightmare one I am sure that I am being treated unfairly :Bucktooth:
One example is a cooker that never worked right from new and was buggered about.
I took it back in my van and put it just inside the doors of the shop..after a few choice words in front of customers they said that a full refund would be in my account by the following morning..it wasn't ..
I rung up at ten o'clock and then every half hour until four o'clock in the afternoon until it was:p

  2. I wouldn't say that Mr shed , you have more recourse buying from a dealer as appose to private sale but if the dealer has to fix it out of there own pocket the gears will turn that bit slower , If the op had bought the bike private and there is no warranty left he would have to organise the fix himself and pay for the labour and the part and the time off road and I reckon An electronic throttle housing will be a pretty penny

  3. at 9k its gonna be manufacture warranty, i thought that was bollox when they stated they couldn't track the parts.

  4. All these 821 hypers that only manage 1,2,300 miles out the crate before breaking down is truly shocking.

Ducati has loaded their newer bikes with electronics that have pi$$ poor reliability...

  5. Very true. But if they had bought private they would have saved at least a £1000. i reckon a reputable mechanic/shop would find the fault for a couple of hundred max. If the fault shows up on the diagnostics it will be closer to £50. People tend to move like rockets when their expecting to be paid.If a shop can use second hand parts you can buy them off ebay. there was a complete engine for sale not so long back for £1000...this all boils down to the dealer being useless at his job. Busy....work longer hours or employ more staff. whether its builders or bike dealers there are brilliant ones and there are complete money grabbing s@#ts. I say name and shame this one. It might save someone else a lot of heartache.

  6. Not so sure about that , a reputable shop works like this ......code test , data stream checks and wiring continuity tests to confirm diagnostic pathway and codes ...estimate 2 hours labour
Confirm electronic throttle housing failed Ducati part no 28240901a £680 new part
Tank off air box other associated parts to fit this ... not sure lets say 2 hours , re learn adaptations and base settings for electronic throttle housing . Any decent bike shop would be on £45 per hour so 4 hours £180 labour + £680 plus vat
    £1032 total
So the £1000 difference between buying private or dealer is already swallowed up .

Next option ...reputable bike shop gives owner the option of buying a used part , I found one on eblag for £300 ,plus the fitting and so on so still getting on for a £500 job , plus the used part will not carry the same warranty , it may last years it may fail again in a month leaving the bike owner stranded somewhere and irate at the whole saga .Would you be happy to have a used part that has unknown history ?

So cannot see how this can be fixed for a couple of hundred quid as you say , you cannot even get the part for that and fit it yourself for that .

You probably think I'm being a dick but I'm not , I'm giving you the perspective from a repairs point of view ( which I am ,albeit cars not bikes )

A proffesional job is just that , a just get you by job is just that .
The op has to wait it out to get the job done for free , I know which one I would go for

This still does not detract that the op has had a bad experience , dealer dragging there feet ?? maybe , if he has to wait a little longer for the 'professional' repair I would do that
As I have said before hope the op gets his bike back asap

  7. I agree with what your saying. My whole point is if this dealer was acting like 99% of decent car or bike dealers behave they would be bending over to help.this is worth paying a premium for.

  8. Yes agree they could do better , try harder , like you say there's good and bad out there .
I did a little reasearch into the throttle units and they have been modified over to a new part number , sort of proves they must be having issues with them , we may see more of this issue , modern technology .... sometimes good , sometimes trouble
