  8. Genius!
With a kick or bump start, all the energy from the battery is available for the ignition circuit.
Why did nobody think of this before?
Where do you need to kick it though - the tyres?

  17. So, finally getting there with the 749/999 full cable set. Picture soon - hopefully!!!

I understand one of the main issues with the Motoelectric cables from the USA has been the 25mm sq cable size. This is where I investigated first as I felt a 16mm sq cable should be more than adequate. I saw the main issue being cable quality / crimp seal and connector design and quality as being of paramount importance. Clearly if a cable works to start with and is engineered to last, the issues will not re occur.

On checking voltage drop it seems an acceptable industry standard is 3 to 4%. A 25mm sq cable over the length required gives only 0.04% and a 16mm sq only gives 0.07 so only marginally worse. So, 16mm it is - better fitment / flexibility and easy fitment.

To improve upon the rest when comparing the competition I found a rail / underground approved high vibration / extreme weather system that had many benefits - I will go in to the detail when I have pictures. I have also had my supplier order a special multi strand cable to follow best practice. As my supplier bespoke manufactures his own system he has agreed to modify the terminals to my requirements.

I am having Red cable ordered as a special too for the +'ve cables as I feel this is better than a bit of red shrink wrap (Ducati colour too and although hidden - a little bling for those that like it) - black for the earth of course.

So, a fully sealed anti vibration cable with a terminal fixing strength greater than the cable itself! Crimped with a 35 tonne press crimping system that fully seals the crimp over the insulation so 'no' deterioration.

I have yet to finalise prices but it looks like I can achieve an RRP (Ebay price) of £89.95 Vs the £120 imported cost of the American System while offering a superior product. I will apply a discount for direct payment (to save fees) and an additional discount for 'Forum Subscribing Members'.

Hopefully things will keep moving and my initial prototype and subsequent order will be coming soon :D

  18. Where are you getting this 3-4% from? I.E.E?
They have no jurisdiction in the automotive field.
However as you rightly pointed out 0.03% in volts drop from one cable to the other is nothing to worry about.
