  1. Just toft tinternet, I know nothing about electrickery :D

  2. The tiny difference in voltage drop is nothing compared to the advantage of the reduced bulk.
The results from the HiCap kit are brilliant but there's no denying it's a right pita to fit.
90 quid is a small price to pay if you can get the performance of the HiCap kit but with better longevity and easier fitment.

  3. Lets not forget our sprag clutches either!
A decent starting circuit will prevent sprag clutch problems, as well as providing decent starting...

  4. Yes, the thing is I particularly like Sprag Clutches so my mission is to improve their lot in life :D

  5. What is the problem with the HiCap in this respect?
I've got them on my 998S and the 2013 PP, well before @Exige set up with this wonderful idea....just want to know what to expect in the future.
And Yes I agree they are a PITA due to the stiffness (I fitted mine in the Winter).

  6. I've got one of Exige's secondary earth leads.
It's a little on the big side so I had a brainwave - pare off most of the width, shrink-wrap the bit you are keeping to insulate it, replace the terminal bits cos they are now too big and voila! - slimline version of the secondary lead! Awesomesauce!

  7. I have no idea what's wrong with the Hi Cap in terms of longevity but presumably, if the supplier is manufacturing these new cables to an even higher spec in terms of crimping and sealing to very high railway standards, longevity can be expected to be even better.
The sheer bulk of the HiCap cables I found to be a problem. Also, the terminals didn't nestle with the existing ones very well, not anything like as well as I would have expected.
However, I can't fault the performance. They have transformed the ease of starting, especially when combined with a nice new Yuasa :)

  8. Yours was a slim 16mm sq cable you nutter :D

    • Thanks Thanks x 1
  9. Marketing blurb for higher spec as suggested below, probably no better in this respect for fit to purpose over several years but eventually will likely out perform the competition, i.e. higher spec - belt and braces so to speak, bit like me belts ;)

  10. Once again do I need to remind people that you DON'T need to insulate (electrically) the earth cable!
Railway standards for the cables is a good idea...high current (but also high voltage). Perhaps a good automotive electrical standard, but not really my bag.
I would like to see a woven flat earth cable, with a gold finish. Think high end audio...

  11. I was going to use a round woven cable for the Earth, now looking at an insulated round woven for branding / aesthetics and also more importantly anti scratch / anti chaffing which is always good ;)

  13. Enough chit chat, on with the 996 please.

  14. I have no one to help me with a 996 to measure the cables and see if there is a better Earth point for the second cable or to use the same earth and just piggy back it :( unless I get a PM offering such help :)

  15. Ridiculous example of Chaffing AC! must try harder...

  16. I know!

I managed to pare it down to 3mm! So slimline now!
