If I dont have an upmap with my termis, whats the best and easiest fueling option, bearing in mind I want to remove the servo without lights on the dash? Is the new 'upmap' loaded each time its plugged in? and how do you revert back if needed? Can I 'borrow' an upmap? or do you need a new one? Probably been discussed hundreds of times, but things change, including opinions, thanks in advance
The mapping for the end cans and full system is already on the bike all the upmap key does is unlock the particular map you want. The upmap keys for just the cans and for the full system are different so you need to make sure you have the right one. Some dealers can unlock the mapping without the key. Obviously they charge you for the privilege. You can't use one key to unlock maps on numerous bikes, so once it has been installed to a particular bike it is in effect 'empty'. However if you decide to take the end cans/system off for instance when you sell the bike you can uninstall it back onto the key then it can be used on another bike. Personally I would try and find a key from somewhere because the dealer will charge you to unlock the map then if you take the cans/system off at some point they will charge you again to take it off and revert the mapping back to stock. The main problem with buying upmap keys off eBay etc is trusting the person who is selling them as to whether they are genuine and the key is still intact.
Thanks M, i thought it was a bit complex (to me anyway!) will have a think on it. on another note, Im been quoted £400 for an oil service, with all fluids replaced. Does that sound fair? its broke down to include 4 hours labour. Cheers for advice on termis
Sounds a bit steep! 4 hours labour! Is brew time and mid afternoon snooze included in that?. My local dealer fit a full termi system to my bike in four hours.
Get an ECU reflash at Moto Rapido. Gives you full SBK ECU and better options for your modes Works great (and I had the up-map and full Termi system)
my sentiments exactly! thing is, they say because im getting a new dash out of warranty under good will, I need to bring service upto date with them, and they will fit dash labour free. Hmmmm,
I see what you saying, not wanting to rock the boat when they're doing you a good deed. I think since these 'transparent charges' have come about we're all paying more. Every job has now been given a time allocation but I know my dealer can work a lot faster than the times given for routine work. It seems they have been timing the slowest mechanic. So even though it appears fair that you know exactly how much it's going to cost before they start we are actually loosing out and Ducati or rather Audi are gaining hugely.
Other contributors have more technical info than I do, so I will not attempt to add my penn'orth. I will, however, strongly suggest you fit both the Termis and the big-bore down-pipes. There were two Up-Maps involved and provided that you stick with a Ducati Agent (mine's in Coventry), you also get all the new ECU upgrades too. The result is a tested 184bhp at the back wheel. That's more than the new 1299, which is producing a claimed 200+ bhp at the crank...... I'd suggest that implies at least that much from the 1199 motor at the crank as well. Anyway, it goes like stink and sounds very, um, much !
