749 Chain Tensioners?

Discussion in '749 / 999' started by Spjallen, May 31, 2015.

  1. Does anyone else have some strange black tipped bolts that run from the back of the swingarm and seat themselfs near the spindle, one on each arm? I've got the normal lock nut and standard chain tensions too, but these things stop the axle going back to the full extension of the axles range. Nothing in the workshop manual either. It's a black box section swing arm.

  2. Cant say ive seen your issue before but i Have these for sale if interested.

  3. Yeah, they are there to be drilled out!

I did exactly that on my 749R so I could increase the swing arm length with the sprocket combo I was running.

  4. Thank you. This is exactly the problem I have. I want to run a 14 41 with room to adjust to 40 and 39 but maintain clearance from the front of the swinging arm. Did you just drill them out from the rear?

  5. Yep, the alloy is pretty soft, its a two minute job.

  6. Thanks. Ill do it this evening.

  7. They can also be screwed out with two nuts.

  8. Well that wasn't too bad. Drilled a pilot hole in each them just extracted them. Much happier!! Thanks for all the inputs.

  9. What's the benifts of these? How much?

  10. They have etched numbered markers on each side slowing accurate adjustment on a thread which will pull the axle forward it rearward. And the look cool too. £90 posted
