1200 Safety Recall 925

Discussion in 'Multistrada' started by Derek, Apr 4, 2015.

  1. Had mine done yesterday. A 2 minute job to change the housing only as the cables themselves were undamaged.

  2. Mine being done without the letter having arrived, just phone and book your bike in.

  3. P&H said that Ducati process VIN numbers in batches so as not to overwhelm dealers with too many recalls at once. He said that as unbelievable as it is, Ducati have no parts stores anywhere other than at Ducati in Italy so the throttle parts take a week to arrive.

They ordered mine today and I'm booked in for the 30th.

  4. JH, Riders told me the same thing as regards the parts availability.

  5. Sounds like a fob off to me- all the bikes are put on the system at the same time and the parts are available within 48hrs, dealers should be stocking an amount of parts to cover any bikes booked in

  6. They don't have to get it authorised-its a recall

  7. Mine hadn't got the parts last week, so I'm checking in after my trip to Spain in a few weeks. Have to keep my thumb on the kill switch ;)

  8. Didn't sound like a fob off to me. Makes a lot of sense. They could see on the computer that mine was marked as 'upcoming'. This meant that no letter had been sent but that one would be soon (in a future batch). Regarding the parts, he said when they input the VIN for the recall, it orders the parts for that one bike from Ducati Italy. It is a recall after all, dealers don't tend to pay for the parts and Ducati would hardly send out bulk loads without any system. They'd bleed money. Doing it on a per VIN basis seems right.

  9. Mine done last Friday. 10 mins from handing keys over to getting them back, obviously no problem with the cable...

  10. Did they tell you that? if so its completely wrong either their service department doesn't understand the system or its a fob off, all recalled bikes are listed on their dealer/factory system at the same time they don't have to wait for your letter, the dealer has to order the part they are not auto issued and they pay for them and claim it back, in reality the dealer should keep a handful in stock to cover at least their own customers cost is not massive for the parts about £8 retail

  11. My dealer has the parts in stock, they are doing it without any letters from dvla, just doing it while the bike is in for something else anyway(leaking coolant and terribly spongy front brakes as under warranty )

  12. I just got a recall in the mail today, haven't opened it yet though but assuming this is the same.

  13. Same here (M&S Newcastle) same issue with brake but no coolant issues, thank goodness! In for annual service.

  14. How was the brake resolved ? I have tied the lever to,the bar 3 times, and is ok for a couple of hundred miles, then the sponginess returns.

  15. Sorry, stupidly didn't read the WHOLE post. It's my back brake that is the trouble-as per everyone else. Strangely, the MOT station were very happy with it! Well up to criterion. I find it deflects downwards far too much before biting, then retardation is not what you'd want to rely upon.

  16. This seems like a good idea, wish I'd thought of it.:Angelic:

MTS1200 Service & Maintenance > ABS / Brakes bleed mod

  17. Done that mod as soon as it was up. Yes, it bleeds out air from the abs unit, but brake is still poor. It doesn't "pump up" tho' like it would with air in the system, just travels far and doesn't retard.

  18. Ordered the bleed nipples over the phone whilst the bike was getting sorted at P&H... Yes sir, we've heard of that mod. We've left them under the seat with the washers and bits for you.

Just went out to the garage to do it and they've given me the actual circular banjo bit. So much anger! Out on the multi tomorrow and should be near Hysides at some point. Will pop in there and get them. Will go all out and hold the caliper up too. Some say they get a rock hard back brake after doing both.

  19. snells did my one today 30 mins work all good

  20. Sorry if this has already been mentioned but make sure your dealer fits the right parts! the metal housing is different if you have a bike with heated grips. My bike has heated grips and after the work had been done the collar that the wiring for the heated grips goes to seemed loose compared to how I remembered it. They took it back into the garaged and came back with the conclusion that Ducati had packed the wrong part (I will give them the benefit of the doubt). There should be virtually no movement in the collar.
Just a heads up if it helps someone else.
