Don't call me an omosessualle but I am keen to lighten my clutch. Anyone change their master cylinders for anything or done something to their current cylinder to help? I see systems available but I would prefer to retain the brembo gold look on both sides of my bike
LOL. He-Man jokes However, @richgilb , if you are like me and have injuries affecting your left wrist long-term, a lighter clutch action is a real help. You could contact Avanti Race Parts, where Antony will do you a decent deal. I recently bought a slave cylinder from Antony and I have no complaints whatsoever Alternatively, you can use Oberon - I have one of those too, on my 999S. Slightly pricier though.
I've just seen your other thread about this issue, I realise now that you are looking for a different master cylinder. As nove indicated, I was answering a question about reducing the amount of pull required at the clutch lever by using a different slave cylinder. I cannot help you with master cylinder questions, I haven't researched this and I have no experience! Sorry to lead you down a blind alley Are you wanting a different master cylinder, for aesthetic reasons perhaps, or are you just looking for an easier clutch action? If the latter, a change of slave will work best for you , I believe.
some people have been known 2 remove 2 opposite springs from the clutch pack. Take it for a ride after to check for slippage.
Brembo and Accossato do adjustable ratio radial master cylinders which go from little travel with hard pull to long travel and soft pull. Along with a larger slave cylinder this should keep you rolling. Putting the bike in neutral at lights also helps on longer rides.
Loz, I put an 1100 evo motor into my 900ss and left the clutch equipment on from the 900. I was hoping for a slight improvement just doing that with the new clutch design, but it is still heavy. I don't want to change the look of my bike at all.
OK, it's essentially an Evo 1100 motor so you want a suitable slave cylinder for that - but you have a 900SS master so you need a slave suitable for that! I don't know whether the 900ss and 1100 Evo slaves are interchangeable, drop @antonye a PM to check this. One way or another, you should be able to get a working, usable clutch.
I have a hand injury too, I run 4 springs on my 1100 evo (dry clutch) with no slippage, works fine, (motor is 95rwhp & 75 ft/lbs) Give it a go
on mine I put an 16x radial master on and an oberon clutch slave. made it feather light. I'd go for the slave cylinder first as it'll be the cheaper option, then start looking for masters. If you do go radial masters, look for the OEM brembo as they have angled mounts - in that way you don't keep smashing your clocks as you would with the straight mountings on the Brembo aftermarket master cylinder.
