Making It Harder To Steal Your Bike

Discussion in 'Ducati General Discussion' started by PETE R, Jun 6, 2015.

  1. what do you do/what can you do to make it harder to steal your pride and joy?
My bikes are in a stone built garage with heavy oak doors which are double locked..
Once the doors are opened you have twenty seconds to punch in a code to deactivate the two powerful halogen spotlights from blinding you and an alarm which is ear piercing..

It's not always easy to do this much but would be interesting and helpful to exchange security tips.

  2. let them blend in with their surroundings. wash them once a year. let the weeds grow around them.

  3. Being in the trade I have an OTT range of security measures on my garage, "being a public forum not gonna divulge exact specs" but if someone gets past them and past me, then there welcome to help themselves to the collection, lol

  5. professional security systems and a 15 1/2 stone fist.any burglers will be knocked out, stripped naked , bound and will find themselves padlocked to a lamppost outside a gay bar.

  6. a police man once told me if you knock out a burgler then get your mates around and everyone dress up as tellytubbies and ballerinas etc and then proceed to knock the feck out of the burglar as everyone shouts wibble and then start chanting the words to the snowman song, then drag him a few streets away and dump him, then clean everything up.......when he tries to report what happened to him who would believe a word he said.

  7. Never leave your bike on view outside your house, and always check you've not been followed home.

  9. Never post pics on a forum as it's piss easy to download, see the metadata including the location data if where it was taken.
Wouldn't believe the number of people who don't realise they are giving thieves the exact location of their bike or new garage etc

  13. For photos, just make sure your location is switched off ;-)

  14. My property doesn't benefit from a stone built garage with heavy double locked oak doors. No way I'm ever buying a house without a garage again. Serious first time buyer error!

I got one of the ASGARD steel sheds that are counted as a garage by insurers. Hasn't leaked..... yet!

  15. You could always add ground anchors, chains, perhaps shorter activation time, less than 20 seconds, cctv, monitored by a professional security company etc etc etf

  16. Anyone venturing into our place, would have to deal with her indoors AND two cats!

  17. I reckon both of those could be disarmed with a small plastic box of Tesco's value party sausages... :)

  18. I fitted a homemade alarm 110db which goes off if someone brings the bike just before upright, which they would have to do to get it off the sidestand and wheel it.

....no battery drain unless you fit a little LED which is minimal drain.

  19. Not a lot. I have an almax series iv and insurance. They're only bikes, I'd just buy new ones.

  20. Lol, nah it would have to be a large box as the springer is a fast eater, oh and he likes the spicy ones washed down with some budweiser! Im not joking either.
