Which Panigale?

  1. Hi Guys,

Been considering returning to a Ducati bike after a couple of previous excursions on Ducs, 916, 1098 and a couple of 1200 Multi's. only been about 6 mths since my last Duc. I originally thought about a Desmosedici but after a visit to Duc Coventry last weekend, I've been put off so I now have a dilemna!

Which Panigale to choose? An ABS, S or Tricolore......Any suggestions? Does the lack of Ohlins make a difference? Must admit I thought the Ohlins was worth it on my Multi. Won't get a chance to demo til I come back from Misano in a couple of weeks but open to suggestions.

    Cheers Jim

  2. Seems money is not an issue so just buy the tricolore

  3. I hear what you're saying 749man but its only debt...lol Was looking to sell my soul and the wifes Mini for a Desmosedici

  4. Carry on like that and you'll be selling your wife!!!!

  5. Oooo living dangerously I see
    :)

  6. My money would be in an ABS and spending some money on maybe ohlins internals and set up. Im not a big fan of this new fangled suspension on a bike like the 1199 I find it all a bit of a gimmick.

  7. Its the second wife so can't do that, last one cost a fortune... Current one is a goth, vampire lover so every days living dangerously :) My initial thoughts were in line with Mr C's logic.

  8. Er.. selling you're wife's Mini so that you can have a single seater bike?

Strange mariage you have there mate!

But maybe a good one! Must be handy to be married to someone who doesn't mind you selling her car so long as you can have a top bike!

(Bet they don't grow on trees....)

  9. +1

Liking the colouring on the tricolore, also better spec. :upyeah:

  10. Yeah...shes a good lass which is why she's wife number 2 and there are always cheaper Mini's but don't tell her!

  11. I would go for the 'S' not that i'm biased of course

  12. If money no object, I vote for the Tricolore.

But then there are some nice ones (well, at least one nice one) on the black Panigale thread. And it isn't black.

  13. Get the one in the Biaggi paint scheme, oh hang on that's the Aprilia. What about the Parklane rep? Bugger that's a BMW. The white and orange one looks good, what a KTM? Well it's hard to tell now a days, it looks like it's been styled off most bikes on the road.
Keep the Mini, get another 916 and your misses will love you.

  14. Guys, Thanks for the advice, will have a look after our trip to Misano and see what I end up with.

  15. For the same price as a tri u can have the s with full race termi system. the only lose is the paint work which u can have for a grand and the data logger which u can have for 2 1/2 grand. I got s with full race termi.....but really only cos the tri was sold out and id have to wait ages but actually think its the better option cos instead of slip-ons I have the straight through race system which the tri doesnt, its red as a duke should be and the data logger would hardly, if ever, be used.
I would of had the tri and maybe put the manifold on later but now im glad to have the race system.........but tri with race system would be sweet. If u can afford it do it

  16. What put you off the Desmosedici?

  17. He asked a bunch of anonymous strangers on the internet for a decision, and someone said they were rubbish.

    So that was it

    And the end of that

  18. LOL

  19. Would advise you get a good test ride of one first. I had a tric on order, but after getting a few miles
on an S I hated it and cancelled, instead staying with my 1098R.
I absolutely hated the revvy, poorer mid range engine.
You may love it, but it did less than nowt for me.:frown:

  20. Dave, The lack of warranty didnt so much bother me when I was looking but when the dealer said an engine problem could be in the region of £10k for a big problem, sort of tinged the excitement of wanting one. That said I have a 2002 Mille out of warranty and no probs at all.

Hoping to get a demo on a Panigale tomorrow so will see.
