50 years old later this month. Owned 30 + bikes since my first bike, a yellow Girelli Tigercross when I was 16. Love BMW Boxers and more latterly Ducatis. I bought my first Ducati, a modified Diavel Strada from Ducati Glasgow in Dec 2014. Loved it, full of character and a hoot to ride. Required lots of input to muscle it around, but fantastic fun. Needed something a little more practical, as my daughter is on the back regularly, so I took a New Multistrada 1200s out for a test. What a revelation. I was on the verge of ordering a new 1200 GS TE, but I instantly fell for it. Great all round package that meets my needs, but more importantly, it is full of character, yet offers all the latest technology. So, I have a White one on order with touring and urban packs and I can't wait to get it. Martin and Kerrie at Ducati Glasgow have been great to deal with. Fingers crossed I can get it for my 50th, but I know that is a big ask.
how do roddy yip always a good buying experience at D.G. always bent over backwards to deal with any issues i have had. cant ask for more really. just up the road from ya in the appin area and as always, see ya at the welly.
Yes indeedy. I regularly get up to the Welly on one of my ride out routes that takes me round to Inveraray for some tasty fish and chips. See you around at some point. What bike are you on?
red ugly 1100s black and ally 848. yip great roads around iveraray. do you go beyond and on to lochghilphead tarbert and oban never see any coppers on the lochghilphead oban road. perfect for a v.twin. heading past the welly today on my way to killin then tomorrow hangover permitting standrews the morra.
I normally go over the rest to Tarbet and back up the A82 to Crianlarich, then south on the A85/A84 to home. My other favourite is A84/A85 to Lix Toll. Right to Killin, Kenmore. Coffee at the Kenmore hotel. Aberfeldy to A9, short ride to junction that takes you to Blairgowrie via Butterstone. Fantastic road. Then to Cupar, Dundee, to John Clarks for a coffee and a chat, then if I have enough time, St Andrews, Anstruther for a fish tea then back the A91 via Cupar, Yets o'muckart etc. Worth a try.
nice one, was talkking about tarbert loch fyne. the lochghilphead to oban road is quick and twisty off the tourist trail a bit too. apology's if teaching to suck eggs but down to campbelltown then back up the skipness road is also perfect for the multy nadgery on the skipness road but cracking views all the way down of jurra and other islands and arran on the way up. then the kilberry road again nadgery but superb road and views and still off the tourist routs all easy doable from stirling in a day.
Sounds fantastic. I have never ridden that route, so I'll just add that to my bank and do that when I get my new bike. Thanks for the top tip.
Welcome Roddy From Glasgow just down the road from DG do a lot of your roads but not out too often. Black 1098, or occasionally on odd looking little Guzzi. I've met Finm too up in Oban good guy, knows his roads up that way John
